The 2nd track on Private Records is...
I'm pretty sure it is a version of a song they already recorded. I just can't think of the name and I'm not going to pour over all my recordings to find out which one it is. I have about 20 Surf Coasters albums on my iTunes.

Jake,
Sorry I haven't been around my CDs for a few days, but I will check out the track and let you know later today.
But, I can answer another Surf Coasters questions that everybody is asking. "Will the band ever get back together?" The answer is... maybe, which is a lot better than "no". The group will have a reunion show on December 28 in Tokyo. After that, who knows. Of course I have been hammering thier manager about another US tour, and he has been sending them photos of some of thier favorite memories of the US. They are a little jealous that The WHYS are here on tour, and wish it had been them. It really is up to Shigeo Naka, he has been very busy playing with some very big Japanese bands. He recently performed in Yuzo Kayama's back up band (playing lead guitar) at a stadium show in front of 60,000 people. He has also been touring with the Southern All Stars. Here is a little bit of gossip- Shigeo was asked to write some songs for a pop artist, but his songs were rejected because they were all to "surf". So, bad news for the pop artist, but good news for us, because that means Shigeo will have a bunch of new material.
Keep yer fingers crossed,

Thanks Ferenc. I'd love to have anything by the Surf Coasters, it doesn't matter if it is 100% surf either. They just make good music. Also, a US tour would be awesome. I'd kill for a chance to see them again and even more so for a chance to play with them. After that Satan's Pilgrims/Nebulas show I have been clamoring to play more all surf shows. I was dare I say surprised at how people reacted to us in comparison to the other two bands.

It's an EP released inbetween Surf Attack and Samurai Struck ... I think. Isn't it very much in the vein of the pm EP?

— That was excessively violent and completely unnecessary. I loved it.

Yeah, same sort of thing. Maybe a little less produced than PM.

how come nobody mentioned it when it came out?
I thought there was some good stuff on PM, and some stuff that left me scratchign my head.
I met a guy from San Diego at a Ghastly Ones show last summer, and he said he only knew about, the Ghastly Ones, Los Strait Jackets, Dick Dale and the Ventures. He thought that LSJ's and the Ghasltys were the best bands on earth. I told him there were so many other killer surf bands out there, in all kinds of styles. So recently I sent him the info for the Whys Sand Devils show in SD. He saw a link to the Surf Coasters , and about had a coranary. He sia d who are these guys where do you get their stuff, and when are they playing here.
then I had to break the bad news to him, that they were no longer, and that they had played in SD with the Sand devils about 2 years ago.
But then I sent him Ferenc's recent news and he came back to life.
too friggin funny.
But I told him he needs to see Slacktone, and many other bands too.
spreading the surf gospel

Yeah, I didn't realize it was released until maybe a couple weeks afterward. It seemed like it just happened to be released, really quietly.
Anyways, how much like pm is that EP? Because there were definitely a couple songs on pm that I regularly pass on, but a few of those songs, especially Misirlou , are awesome.
