Hey all,

I've been looking around for a reverb pedal, and was wondering if any of you guys have experience with the Danelectro Spring King Reverb. Is it any good?

I'd rather have a vintage Fender Reverb Unit, but money is tight lately so I'm on a bit of a budget.

Any input would be greatly appreciated Smile

Cheers!

Please search the forums - that pedal has been discussed several times.

I searched, but I could only really find brief mentions of the pedal. I was looking for something a little more in-depth. It's cool though, no worries.

Also, I meant to post this in the Gear section. Moderators feel free to move or delete this post.

Thanks

Check out the "downloads" section and you'll find a sonic comparison of some pedal verbs and a tank. That might be helpful.

Look through the gear pages and you'll find pedal discussion.

I've noticed a number of people favor the Line 6 Verbzilla.

I've never used any pedal verbs, so don't know exactly how to answer your original question. Try one out at a store if you have that convenience.

Out of all the pedal reverbs, I think it's the best for surf, that I've heard and/or tried. Not the same as a big tank, obviously.

I have a Spring King, and if you don't want to drop the cake for a tank it's worth getting. Judging by the various assessments I've read, along with YouTube demos, they vary a lot in sound from unit to unit; or some people are less easily impressed than others. I was disappointed in mine at first, but it offers a worthwhile improvement over my amp's built-in reverb. Mine cost $80 on eBay, but also buying the adapter is essential to avoid huge battery consumption.

Practicing with headphones on, I can definitely hear a genuine splash. Out in the open, not so much. Not nearly as much difference in the settings as others have reported, but worth it if you don't pay full price, and utterly reliable so far. Since getting my hands on a tank, I've only had access to an ancient solid state Traynor DJ amp, whereas the Spring King was always played through a Fender tube amp, so I can't fairly compare the SK and tank.

Thanks for the input everyone. I appreciate it Smile

I listened to those sound clips and I think it sounds pretty good for the price & availability. Plus, thanks to Uma's post, I can make some tweaks on it if I ever get brave with a soldering iron Very Happy
