I'm with pretty much everything thats been said. Can't form a coherent idea of the whole weekend, so I'll just hit a bunch of points.
-Norm is frikkin awesome!!!!! What a great guy. The Ghastlys live were off the hook, especially with the lineup changes. No apologies necessary guys...we know you'd have gladly played more (and we'd have gladly listened)
-The Surge might have been the hit of the weekend. I may be biased, as I was hanging out with them all weekend, but all three of their shows kicked!!!!! I heard a LOT of people talking about them. Thanks Richard & Sticks for the support, the laughs, and the company. Can't see you guys again soon enough.
-Mad Scientist: thanks for the guitar lesson!!!!!!! See above, as it applies to you as well.
-The jam session. Wow. I can't wait to see the video, so I can hear what we sounded like. I understand why you guys in bands do it. Can't wait to get good enough to start my own. I've heard goo you as well. d things about our performance.......I hope I agree!!!!
-Stormtiger, Don, DP, Karen: Thanks SOOOO much. I can't begin to describe how much I enjoyed playing with you, and what it meant to me. Let's do it again next year!!!!
-Brian, no thanks can ever begin to pay the debt we all owe you for this site. Thank you.
-Jeff, my brother......rest well. You've earned it. Then get to work topping yourself next year!!!!!!!!
(no, I'm serious)
-To all the bands and jam players: thank you thank you thank you!!!!!!!!!!! I'm not over surf saturated yet, but it isn't for the lack of trying. Everyone played their collective asses off this weekend. Seldom in history has so much talent been present in one room.
I give up. Too tired to think of anything else. I'll get there later.

I didn't get many shots but this fuzzy image (my apologies) of Tiki Tena's daughter Katherine playing Pipeline with Billy Blastoff, Jeff U, DP, and Bob Spickard of the Chantays was a sweet moment. That is Dave Wronski in the background.

I have a couple better quality ones. I'll upload them when I get home to a hardline connection.

shout-out 'BRAVO' to Jeff BigTikiDude, Tiki Tina, Brian Neal....and everyone who lent a hand, music equipment, the venues themselves, and last but not least...all of the musicians who kicked the reverb into high gear solidly for 3 straight days....stoked beyond my wildest expectations
thrilled I made the choice to let The TarantinosNYC run my SHINDIG while I hung out with all you great people
I had a glorious time
have to shower and head to work
tonight I begin the process of loading in videos to YouTube, and creating a FLICKR file of the things I had the joy of experiencing
every time I go to California I do not want to come back to NYC...never fails -- me thinks my higher power is trying to tell me something?

Brian
Ok, bad thing #1. Because there is so much stuff happening, it is so hard to talk to people and not miss a band. I really don't know how to fix this or if it can be fixed. I really, really wanted to talk to a lot of people about a lot of stuff but just couldn't. Sorry everyone. The get together at Don the Beachcombers did make up for this somewhat, but not everyone came to that.
Brian,
You're right...but I think that's what happens in a lot of events as they become more intense (Tiki Oasis became the same thing, so much stuff to do, you end up not hanging out with your friends as much as you wanted to). No way to fix it. I found a not so good compromise by taking a few breaks to stand within ear range outside so I could catch up with some friends and still hear the bands. I made sure I didn't miss seeing at least some part of every band.

Ran, Necrobella says she's bummed she missed the show. By the way, you kicked ass on the Flint/ Bombora Medley/Jam. Can't wait to jam again with you next year. To all the folks we met and played to for the first time, we truly appreciate your awesome response!! Already looking forward to next year. So many highlights it's tough to mention them all, but off the bat... Ryan's guitar work on Carioca, John Blair's lightning fast double picking, The Surge's Astronauts sound, everytime Paul J plays Moto, just to mention only a few. The whole day was all killer and no filler! Jeff must be really sacked out. He should probably sleep for the next 48 hours. Looking forward to his post.

I am bleary-eyed from our red-eye flight back to Atlanta, but I just gotta chime in real quick and say how great the whole weekend was. Sticks and I had to keep reminding ourselves that it wouldn't be like that every weekend if we moved there. Getting to meet all you guys, hanging out with so many great people during the weekend, meeting the first wavers...it was unreal. We were all just floating. And I feel confident speaking for the entire band when I say we are giddy and flattered beyond words by all the praise and high marks we got from everyone there; forum members, guys from other bands, and audience members. We'll be high for the next year. I'm gonna post again after a full night's sleep, but before i go - a big thanks to BTD for looking after me, Sticks, and Madscientist and putting us up for the first night of the trip, not to mention all the work he put into the event. Absolutely huge.

Does anyone know who this fellow is?
He just showed up and played a wicked-intense version of Dick Dale's "Miserlou".
I think he works at Fender Custom Shop in Corona, or something.

Saturday was incredible. I can vaguely recall some killer moments:
-
Trying to converse with Ferenc with a band onstage; i.e., shouting in each other's ears.
-
Paul Johnson & I discussing Ann-Margret vs. Raquel Welch.
-
Dave Wronski discussing the donkey show in TJ( or was that Spain?).
-
Jon Paul thanking BTD from the stage for keeping the scene alive!
-
That crowd of people that came out of nowhere to fill up the dancefloor when the Ghastlies came on.
-
Jeff Utterback telling us about the Hot Wheel they made of the race car he drives & how his kids still think he's not cool no matter how many musicians & race car drivers show up at his house.
-
BTD's dad refusing to let us in the back door without a wristband.
It was cool to finally meet some of you SG101ers in person! I agree that it seemed like there was so much going on at the same time that stuff was getting missed--I only caught half of "Clair De Lune" because I was out back yakking with someone.
BTD, excellent job again this year, my friend.

This photo definitively proves that Bigfoot does indeed exist.
He wandered down from Humboldt County with his surf bass in hand.
I think he likes pizza.

That's too perfect.

Man what an incredible event! Even though I couldn't get there until 3pm and was drained from a 3 hour band practice in an un-air conditioned garage, the reverb revived me! Jeff, Tena, kudos for putting on such a great show, and thanks to everyone who showed up & all the bands who played.
