News update,
for anybody that figured out who the surprise band was.
well they are not playing now.

so I got the Boardwalkers.
they are celebrating their 20th anniversary this year.
So I thought it would be cool to have them involved.
and they have really been on fire lately.

Jeff(bigtikidude)

What happened, Jeff?

"You're done, once you're a surfer you're done. You're in. It's like the mob or something. You're not getting out." - Kelly Slater

The Luau Cinders

Boardwalkers are great - I'm stoked. Plus I'll see the HC's at Tiki Oasis Razz

Danny Snyder

"With great reverb comes great responsibility" - Uncle Leo

I am now playing trumpet with Prince Buster tribute band 'Balzac'

Playing keys and guitar with Combo Tezeta

Formerly a guitarist in The TomorrowMen and Meshugga Beach Party

Latest surf project - Now That's What I Call SURF

wait the HC's were going to be the surprise band?
how in the world did you ever guess that?
Wink

as for what happend.
I can't quite say.
but if somebody wants to chime in and explain.

I have to say that I am bummed,
but its outta my hands.

Jeff(bigtikidude)

Regarding the mystery band...

First, We want to thank BTD for even entertaining our idea of a short tune-up set before Tiki Oasis.

After much debate, We decided we want our tune up/dress rehearsal to be more intimate and also stress free regarding our nerves and equipment. (Vox amps and pedal boards etc.)

Our tune up is a show/rehearsal in a bar/restaurant on August 7th in front of friends and family so even if we do, We won't suck. (email/pm myself or a band member for details)

So, The Huntington Cads will see you folks at Tiki Oasis and at the Haunted House A Go Go in Sept. with new spooky songs.

Sorry for the thread derail. I'll be at SG 101 providing the drum kit and my lame back beat for a few acts...

Jeff Utterback

I'd hate to think that the Cads got scared off because they didn't have trad surf gear. I think I speak for many people who absolutely LOVE the HC's, and their 2 albums are like treasure to me. I don't give a crap what the HC's play through, I just love their music. I am glad you guys are playing again and hopefully we'll get a chance to see you again. Best of luck.

Seriously - couldn't have said it better myself.

That was excessively violent and completely unnecessary. I loved it.

...my bad if this question has been asked/answered...

Will this event be covered by the news and/or entertainment media in any way?

Should it be? Hello, Huell Howser?

with Outterwave, and Tsunami Blue,

are you talking about the Newport Peninsula, and at the end the Wedge?

I was thinking about doing an event on monday morning/day.
Breakfast, then surf museum visit, then cruise down to where the Rendevous was to see the plaque dedicated to it.
and then down to the Wedge to see the Gillette mansion, where Dick Dale used to live, then go out to the Beach and let people see the Notorious
Wedge surf spot.

what do people think about that?

Should it be? Hello, Huell Howser?

Whorehay sent to info to the LA and OC weekly,
don't know if they are going to run it.

I haven't sent it to any news papers.
with the Ghastly Ones playing and being told that the limit is 311, not 400
like I though, I'm actually a little hesitant to over publicize it.

thoughts?
