It's an old, pre-surf-era standard called Siboney, written by Cuban composer Ernesto Lecuona who also wrote "Andalucia (The Breeze and I)", "Malaguena", and a few other well known songs that escape me at the moment. "Siboney" was recorded by Johnny Fortune in the early sixties in the surf style, and over the past twenty-odd years multiple times by modern surf bands, most recently by Los Twang! Marvels on their "Jungle of Twang!" album. Probably my favorite version is by the Finnish Shadows-style band the Mustangs from their '92 album "Going Doing". It's great to see the Bambis in action again - and great to hear them covering this awesome song! (BTW, I have it on pretty good authority that the new release will not be a CD but rather a series of vinyl EPs. Stay tuned.... ) —Ivan |

They will be both. If you buy vinyl you'll also get the CD (2 for the price of one). We just hate to call new album "new CD":) As for other vinyl releases I have to say that 220g Sonic Bullets LP is sold out and that remastered "Intensity" LP should be out in a couple of weeks. Remastered Intensity CD with bonus tracks (some of them very rare) is due to come out in a month or so. |
