Once again, Sadly we're searching for a drummer. Our present drummer Mike is moving to Florida in the middle of Aug. Hopefully we can find somebody soon so Mike can help break them in.

my very close friend randy laine who lives in carlsbad is a great drummer and surfer who i've known since 64 and who i've played with in a few bands over the years the last one was "the royaltone" a surf band form leucadia-encintas ca he mite be available i think has been playing jazz these days..but can be a real power house as well

I think I may have seen his car @ little league games, does his lic. # read srfdrumr or somthing like that? I tryed to find him but failed.
PLease ask Randy if he maight be interested or pass a # on to me, what a god send that would be. If it's the same Randy Laine, I also know of his surfing prowess. Thanks so much for your help. PM me for contact info if you like.

yea that probably him he is a world famous surfer and camp jetskier..you can fined him every morning down at the oceanside harbor slips with his jetski every body know him there and then he go's for lunch at the longboard cafe arcoss the st. form the big Hobie store in oceanside/carsbad every body knows him around there just ask any body in carlsbad. i can give you his phone # and his E-mail at the PM or you can e-mail at supertonesurf@hotmail i will give him a heads up as well and i will be seeing him when i come out at the end of july for the surf101 convention good luck

I remember meeting the guitar player for the Royaltones when he had a shop in Encinitas, Guitars and Cars ? I think. He was a very cool guy, do you know what happened to him? I've left a mess. w/ Randy, I can't thank you enough for the help. Hope it works out. I'll see you at the convention. Are you staying in S.D. when you come? If so, we're playing in O'side at the Royal Dive after the convention, stop in on your way by.

We'll be playing Sat. night Aug. 1rst after the convention, we'll probably start as late as we can to give any one coming a chance to get down here. Ya, I liked that shop too, he had some cool custom shop strats...

I'm sitting here reading all this and thinking.."hhhmmm, that's MY JOB!! I should be their new drummer but....." Alas, i'm thousands of miles away and there's no one to replace me in The TO's!!! Or is there? I should start paddling now i guess. If i don't make it...good luck with your search. Tell Randy i'll miss him too!!! (i did call him the other day).

kinda off topic,
Rich of the Royaltones did join the Goofyfoots for awhile,
then he went Rockabilly, and I saw him play a few shows on bills with surf bands.
hope he is doing well,
real nice guy.
