Just reading the above post and was wonering if anyone can tell me if my 69 pro reverb silverface is wired the same as a blackface model that was offered up to 67. Ive heard that it is but cant find any info on the net.
Also why does the master volume silverfaces go for less than the non master volume models?

What circuit does your Pro Reverb use? Blackface is AA165. Being a '69 I have to venture that yours does not have the blackface circuit.
As for the Master Volume ones, they just don't sound as good. There is a reason for this I am sure but I do not know the reason. My guess is that the extra wiring for the Master Volume takes something away.

Given that was in the transition years, you'll have to pop the chassis out to see if the bias circuit is the later SF style you see introduced in the late 60s/early 70s or the earlier mid-60s style. It could go either way, but it's more likely the "bias balance" of the SF era and not the "fixed bias adjust" of the mid-60s.
Also, it is more likely that your amp has a slightly hotter running power transformer which means that the amp is probably using a 5U4 rectifier instead of the 5AR4/GZ34 rectifier of the mid-60s amps. It works perfecly fine, but it produces a slight a difference in tone and attack.
Other than that, the earliest SFs are nearly identical to the latest BFs.
