The local music shop has a Reverend Club King RT, and it looks great. They are rated really good on Harmony-Central. Anyone play one for surf?

I recently picked up a Daredevil 290 as a backup, but have yet to really run it through the wringer. First impressions are very favorable - nice construction and playability, and the tone was just what I was hoping from P90s. Granted - we're not playing straight trad stuff, which the Daredevil would probably not get on with, but it's showing a lot of promise for us. For the money, Reverends are great guitars, so it's more a question of if the tones you get out of it are surfy enough for you. Also, I Bigsbyfied mine with a B5/Vibramate kit, and it really is a great piece of equipment. Dead simple to install, and while the B5 feels stiffer than the B6 on my Gretsch, I still like it better than most other vibratos out there. — |

I got a Reverend Club King 290 that I added a Bigsby/Vibramate to. I found it as comfortable to play as my MIA Tele and it has a great sound with the 11-50 flats I put on it. Not sure if I'd label it surfy in the traditional sense but if that's not critical to you, I'd have to say Reverend is one fine instrument. —Mel |

I have a rock orange CKRT with the factory les trem installed. It is a very well made guitar, and plays great. I don't use it for surf though. I bought it more for rockabilly as an alternative to Gretsch's Electromatic models, as I think it is better constructed. The only thing I haven't bonded with is the 25.6 scale which I find a little too snappy for the rockabilly sound I want. (Plus I have a Tele and Strat). As much as I like it, I have decided to sell it soon to go after a 24.6 scale Gretsch or Gibson hollowbody. It is in flawless condition if you or anybody else is interested. I was going to put it on ebay hoping for $525-$550 based on the desirable color, les trem and case and recent sales I've seen. |

Great bang for the buck imo and the Club Kings were my favorites. I checked one out last year but didn't purchase it, things are kind of tight financially. Good Rock-a-Billy guitar imo. Unknown Hinson was using them a while back along with Vox amps which produced and incredible tone! |
