Have I gotten that bad, when I'm getting into "building" partscasters, aside from a small number of off-the-shelf guitars that are still on me "to buy when I get a chance list?" I'm kinda going on "if Fender won't do it, I will," with my current P90/Strat trem partscaster Tele, and definitely so when I get around to parts collecting for my "Jagcaster" project. There is that I could have bought a Fender TC-90/JA-90 Telecaster, put either a Bigsby B5 or a Les Trem on it, and be done with it, so I guess I "goofed" in a way, on that one.
If it wasn't for the current economy, and if I was certain other folks would actually like 'em, I'd partner with my dad (buy him the proper blades and bits to handle working with hardwoods), and literally build custom Telecaster and Stratocaster style guitars. As I do tell people, of my G.A.S. affliction - I don't suffer from it...I enjoy every one of my guitars, for their individual qualities. It also could be worse, in that I don't have H.A.S. (Hammond Acquisition Syndrome). At least I can hang my guitars on a wall (or two), if my G.A.S. gets that bad...let's see a Hammond organ collector do that with a couple of their B3s/and other Hammond console organ.
