Hi SurfCat - thanks for the kind words. The Intro and "A" section is Em7 - D6 - CMaj7 - D6 the Em7 is played in the 7th position, D6 in the 5th position. CMaj7 in the 3rd position, there is common B note (played on the 7th fret of the first string) on all 3 chords, the Cmaj7 is kind of a stretch - easier on a Jaguar the "B" section is C - Em repeated twice - I play them in the 8th and 7th position, respectively, as barre chords the "C" section (not to imply pregnancy) is G - D- G - D - Em good luck Bob |

Hi, Boulder_Bob! Thanks for posting the chords! I had looked all over the Web but could not find a chord chart. I tried to figure it out from the video of your band playing "Kaikoura" at Gold Hill, Colorado at http://video.aol.com/video-detail/beloved-invaders/371790817/?icid=VIDLRVMUS04 but like most videos you usually can't see the guitar players left hand. I am definitely looking forward to practising on this one! Is your Jazzmaster stock or have you modified it? What kind of Fender amp are you playing through? You drummer certainly adds a great sound! I will try to tell you how the intro goes - the first chord (Em7) is a first finger barre on the 7th fret, with 8th fret on the 2nd string (2nd finger) and 9th fret on the 4th string (third finger) the second chord (D6) is a first finger barre on the 5th fret, with a second finger barre on the 7th fret, covering the top 4 strings - this could be done also without the first finger barre, just finger the 5th string 5th fret with your first finger the third chord (CMaj7) is played like this: first finger on the 3rd fret of the 5th string, second finger barre on the top 4 strings on the 5th fret, pinky on the 7th fret of the first string all these chords are played on the top 5 strings only. hope this helps. I played a stock '59 JM at Gold Hill - I've since sold that guitar The amp is Fender Dual Professional from the mid 90's. I think at Gold Hill I was using it with a 1 X 12 JBL K120, with the other speaker hole blocked off. I usually use JBLs or EVMs, or a combination of both. I also use a Dynacord Echocord, a German tape delay from the 60s. Yes Clay adds a lot to the band - he's our "Dusty" |

Thank you so much SurfCat and Bob for making this thread and for posting the chords. This is probably my favorite song out of all the SG101 compilations, and I've been wanting to try and learn it for a while now. |
