Best Surf
* The Tequila Worms
* Marc B
* The Eliminators
* Japanese Motors
* The Mai Tais
Even though The Eliminators didn't win, it was cool hearing them announced as a nominee and a bunch of people cheer.

Well to me it's no contest - The Eliminators. Some of these bands are hardly what you'd call surf. You'd think the awards people would have partnered in Linda for this category to get an appropriate field of candidates.

Surf historian an author John Blair would be the most factual source of information, however, he is now a member of The Eliminators. They do have "Corvette Sandy" on the board. http://www.corvettesandy.com/. She preceded Linda at the surf museum.
It was a fun and interesting night.
The Eliminators go in the studio to record their new CD at the end of April. I hope people will find it fresh and enjoy the vibe/energy.
Thanks for your comments Freddie.

thats too bad. The Elims were the clear winner there.
I have seen the Tequila Worms a few times.
kinda like a punky instro ala MOAM mixed with a Latino soul surf sound.
fun, but not amazing.
the Mai Tai's are basically a metal band with no singer playing surf standards.
very hard to sit thru, for me.
Never heard of Marc B. or Japanese Motors.
Hmmmm

Just floating an idea here......
How about doing our own Surf Music Awards show at the SG101 convention next year???? I wouldn't want to lay this on Jeff for this year's show. How about a two day event, with the awards done at a HB pier show? It would be the coolest awards show ever, and it would be the only awards show (that I know of) with any credibility.
