Just remembered this the other day from my youth. Perhaps this is "how not to play surf music, stick with your Scorpions day job."

Yeah, the song's not great, but you can tell that he's a fan of surf music, so that counts for something...

For sure he is. And I'm a fan of the Scorpions too! Just a kinda funny blast from the past here. I remember this getting a decent amount of airplay on MTV.
Not really my kind of 'surf' music though.

This has to be one of history's least essential albums. Who was the record label guy that approved this project? Ha-ha.

I actually have the 12 inch single of that.
but somewhat to my credit, I've never played it.
and only payed 99cents for it.
can I get my money back?

?!?!?!?!!!??What's the matter, the Gang doesn't like to hear a 'tad bit' more modern version with a little 'Fuzz' (Overdrive) and support a Classic?!?!? Come on Guys, get over it! Every once in a while, it IS good to get out of the Bathtub (Reverb Tank) and listen to a Legend Tune with a slightly more modern sound to it .......

That is awful. My ears! My eyes! I might play Wipeout at our gig Saturday just for spite!
And while I have readily dismissed Wipeout as bad cheese, for Parrotheads mostly, this kicks major ass:

Dennis, I'm a (early) Scorpions fan, there I said it, but that was AWFUL. He didn't get the drum part right.

how not to play surf music
Is this really surf music or just a surf music tune played in another style?
Is there a difference or does surf music tune = surf music, regardless of style.
If surf music tune does = surf music then this is exactly how to play surf music.

Ah semantics!
I can say there are some hamfisted metal tunes I really like and then there are many I do not like. This one is on the side I don't really like much, though I'm sure Herman had tons of fun playing this song (good for him).
To me personally, surf music is that music which conjures up images of a beach, some waves, surfers (maybe) and the feeling of being underwater. In that case, you could call a lot music "surf."
