This guy/gal is quite demanding. I recommend a Jackson Randy Rhoads model guitar into a Mesa Boogie Triple Rectifier with plenty of flanger, chorus and wah wah for some extra spice. You should be able to nail the surf tone!

So is this a poll on effects, or a request for tabs? A floor wax, or a dessert topping?
Sounds like you have your homework cut out for you.
Unless maybe you have a large sum of money and can convince Ivan and Mark English to release a Space Cossacks tab book.

Hey all:
I can shed a little bit of light here. Cj has actually written me over email before. I can see why many of you think this whole thread is a joke, but it's not. Cj is a very young guitarist (he's 14) and has a lot of enthusiasm about surf music. He has a surf band in Australia and they want to learn some Space Cossacks tunes, among others. I just don't have the time to tab them out so I recommended he ask around here, thinking that maybe someone has already done it. Anyway, if any of you could help him, I'd appreciate it.
Thanks.
PS I already pointed out to him the importance of trying to learn the songs for himself and developing his ear, but it doesn't hurt to keep telling him this. I know there are some threads that do this already so maybe someone could link them here.

Oh, I knew that! When i said April fools I was referring to the fact that nobody else seemed to get it.
Welcome CJ!!
Sorry, I don't have any tabs. I probably wouldn't be able to read them much less write them.

Here is a serious response. Most surf guitarist prefer Fender tube amps, NO Marshall. Use plenty of reverb, a Fender Reverb Unit if possible, or some type of reverb and plenty of it.
You can use tab, but it won't make you sound like Ivan. To sound even close to Ivan you will need years of practice. I'm sure we'll all love to hear you ripping it up like Ivan with a few years under your belt. So keep at it!

Ah, thank you for providing the context. Sorry if we appear to be a bit harsh, but unfortunately one of the hard lessons of life is that if you want something you have to work at it. If we had those tabs they would be on the site. Maybe someone has one or two laying around, and maybe they'll chime in.
Please don't start other threads asking the same thing either.
Good luck and keep practicing. You'll get it if you work at it!

Everyone, I don't have Red Sunrise tab anymore, it was lost probably not long after this was written
I still get requested e-mailed to me every couple months, a testament to this song.

Ivan,
I remember this Australian kid. We corresponded about a year or two ago. Over the years, I had a bunch of your material transcribed and sent him a few tabs - with your blessings and approval, of course. The little picker and his crew of musical misfits then had a "change of direction" or some such artistic fluff and I never heard from him again.
I guess he forgot about me... story of my life.. I'm largely unknown and happily remain so wherever I go.
