even if WIPEOUT might not be a true 'song' to some, I sure as Hell wish my name was on the copyright!!

why are non-musicians considered 'normal'? curious.....
UNSTEADY FREDDIE
By normal I mean not obsessed with analyzing the minutiae behind a song. Normal in the sense that they hear a song and think either "I like that" or "I don't like that". Not the kind of people who spend days trying to figure out who recorded the background music to a late sixties Beatles Newsreel. You know... Normal

BTW, I really enjoyed watching people trying to figure out who did record that music for the Beatles' newsreel
I thought it was fascinating to watch musicians kick that around,,,totally cool

I think all musicians take something from somebody.
No matter how original you may think you are, somebody, somewhere has already done it, or something close to it, in some way, shape, or form.
The minute you play a note, you've already stolen something from somebody. Ok, so, that being said, who's gonna invent the key of H?

As did I. But the fact that someone nailed it? Unreal! Kinda like someone asking "You know that guy... The one with the pants?" and someone knows who you're talking about. That was cool beyond belief.

That wouldn't be unusual at all if you happened to live in a nudist colony

And on a forum like this "does anybody recognize this newsreal footage song" will get you answer... Context is everything

There's a part in "Let's Go Trippin" that's the tiniest bit similar to the, uh, "melody" from "Wipe Out," but the notes and rhythm are vastly different. I don't see any similarity whatsoever between "Man of Mystery" and "Stairway to Heaven."
Jagshark
I know people will point to the Spirit song that is similar to Stairway's intro.
Dude, it's beyond similar - and Zep opened for Spirit before "Stairway to Heaven" was written and recorded. I'm assuming Randy California didn't get a co-write, but I have absolutely zero desire to come into any physical and/or aural contact with any LZ album.
Especially IV.

"I hate Jimmy Page with the intensity of a thousand white hot suns."
Probably my most memorable line from SG101. I have chuckled about that one frequently and adapt it myself from time to time. It's so . . . definitive.
