Well I guess I could have been more clear about who I was asking. Sorry.
Look I know Klas was probably (:?:) joking about saying "This pic says it all". I agree they look ridiculous, but hey it was the '80s, right?

No, I wasn't joking as I think that version of Pipeline is just as horrible as the look of the people in the pic.

Actually, I remember seeing that film back in the 80's when it came out and thinking then how ridiculous Dick's hair looked.
Sorry Dick, not your finest hair moment.

no excuse. that hair's ridiculous even for the eighties. sorry, that's just the way it is. that hair's a weird cross between Poison and Daisy Duke, and there were plenty of cool do's around in the eighties. Elvis Costello never gave in. (where's the tongue in cheeck smily? )
the song in any case, however it sucks or not, exposed a lot of people to surf, and to dick dale, that would otherwise not have heard him. Dick seems to have a nose for opportunities reaching the big audiences every now and then, even if it's only with a snippet of surf. So kudos to the man for playing pipeline with SRV!

How did SRV get into that duo? Was he a fan of the song, a fan of DD, or a fan of surf? I mean that's a kind of odd sidestep from his usual style. Why Pipeline?

In partial answer to Wooza's Why?
Why Pipeline?: Because it was used in the soundtrack to 'Back To The Beach' movie. As far as the other why's - I think they both had cameo's in the movie.

Stevie and his Brother Can't recall his name at the Moment, who is in the Fabulous Thunderbirds, would sometimes do a duet of the song on a double neck guitar with one guy standing behind the other, and reaching around (eeeew that doesn't sound good, does it).

I bought the soundtrack album from a bargain bin many years ago and actually got angry when I listened to Pipeline. Needless to say, I got rid of the album immediately.

I had a similar reaction, two guitar greats trashing a great song. Very dissappointing to say the least.

that version of pipeline is pretty scary. i wouldnt say i hate it though. a better DD collab would be surf trek, him and davie allen.

Hello everyone. Back to the original topic, my favorite DD song is Nightrider. Love that song.

I have to say it was extremely cool seeing the Madeira play Nightrider, The Victor, and Taco Wagon.
