ok, you got me with the "beer"

We are playing the Rolling Rock festival in November. Is Rolling Rock across the country? And we've played several PBR sponsored shows. I don't really drink(cancer) so it doesn't really excite me that much.

We have rolling Rock here in So. Cal. but I don't drink it, too bitter for my taste.
now a Rum sponsored show, thats whatIm talking about.

Gee Bill, you mention how important beer is to you, but all I see you drinking is some kind of flavored water called "Pabst". Puke
Meet us at the Speakeasy Brewery someday! Cheers

Awww, Ferenc,
Can't beat Pabst for the price. I think it's a bit of an acquired taste, but for me, it's like lifeblood.

I have nothing against high-end beer, but dropping four or five bucks on a pint when you're onstage, and just going to sweat it out, it doesn't make sense. I am a beer fan - everything from Hooegarden to Chimay to Speakeasy or Anchor Steam, even Duvel (it's not just for TFJ anymore), but when I'm onstage, I say "PBR me ASAP!!!!!"

3 out of 5 Belgian beers - ALL OVER THE PLACE in the netherlands. I actually live less then 10 miles from the Belgian border. all three cost less here then Budweiser, which is considered high end import posh. hahahahahah! LMAO

It's also 9pm here right now - maybe I should get me chimay red.... or a chimay blue... or a hoegaarden ... or an Orval.... all plenty available in my cellar. Thumbs Up

good stuff! for white beer I prefer Celis. brewed in the US, I know. the story I heard is that Celis was set up by the padre familias of (belgian) Hoegaarden. after his sons took over the factory they chaned the recipy to a more flat commercial taste, and the old daddy was so upset with this that he wanted to start a new factory. alas, anti competetion clause in the contract made him have to set it up in the US, and form there it's imported back to us. it might be urban legend, but Celis tastes a lot like what sold here as trad. whitebeer by small indy breweries.

NOTE TO BRIAN: all this being completely Off Topic perhaps you could cut the beerpart of this thread and paste to the shallow end. Or let this thing flow until Frip has done his show and we can get back on topic. just a thought Idea )

I have brewed some in the past and am about to invest in some newer, better equipment and have another go at it. Perhaps I'll open up a naming contest here once I get my reciped down.

I'm not familiar with Celis. I normally wouldn't drink a beer that light, but a friend of mine introduced it to me and I'm now a fan.

I think Celis may have gone out of business. I live in Texas, and it's been awhile since I've seen any.

I used to love their Grand Cru.

My new favorite is Stella Arteois.

My new favorite is Stella Arteois.

MPoppit ... please, if you ever come to visit the low lands ... don't mention that to anybody. In the netherlands it will get you laughed at, in Belgium it will probably get you beat up.... Laughing the exported version is probably differnet from homeland stell though, it's the same with heineken.

guess it's the same happening with Heineken and Bud. it's marketed abroad as something exclusive, but that's marketing. Heineken is glamorous import abroad, but here in the country of origin it's widely regarded as "beer for alcoholics".

WR,
What do you think of Leff?
One of my favorites (I'm not a big beer drinker, but when I do, I like the darker ones - mostly Ales.)

I'm a big fan of dark ales myself, but my knowledge is limited mostly to Great Britain, German and US micros. Any suggestions?
