Hi, again
Thank you for the kind words!
About the recording process:
I usually start with a clicktrack and a guide guitar.
I record the drums with a set of AKG drum-mics
(2xOH, BD, SN, TIM, TOM).
Then I record the guitars and bass, listening to the drums without the clicktrack.
I use a KORG D888 hard disc recorder to record the instruments.
It has eight mic-preamps and records directly to WAV, which can be imported to my computer via USB.
I edit the material in Cubase SX, before rendering it down to four tracks: Drums L, drums R, bass and guitar.
This is being sent to a Teac A-3340
4 track reel to reel tape recorder, to add some analog warmth.
Then I record the four tracks from the tape machine back into the D888, before importing the files into Cubase again.
Pew! Tedious process, but it's worth it!
Finally I record the organ and SFX if needed.
BTW: Only "Kanaloa" on my myspace-site has been through this process, and can be considered finished mixwise.
The tape-recorder has added some "mud" that glues everything together, and I particullary like the effect it has on the drums.
None of the songs have been mastered yet,
does anyone here have any experience with Reverbmasters?
About "Horror Surf" ebow:
No, I don't use an ebow on this tune.
For the fuzztone I use a VOX Tonebender stomp box.
I try to keep the amp settings as flat as possible, so the amp doesn't color the sound to much.
I also find it useful to turn the amp down, thus controlling most of the sound with the fuzzbox.
Once again, thank you for the feedback.
I'm finally home
