Ok, I know this isn't a jazz forum, but you folks here have spacious musical backgrounds and apparently a lot better ears than I do, so I am asking here.
I have spent a hugh amount of time trying to find this sheet music for a song titled 'Gold and Silver' by Quicksilver Messenger Service.
I have looked at Jazz forums, and Hal Leonard publications and such.
I have listened till my head starts to rattle to the very song itself, and have made no progress toward figuring it out.
Can anyone help? A chord sequence, or riff maybe, or maybe where I can aquire the sheet music itself.
Thanks

I doubt if you'll find it in any jazz forum being that the song is a Quicksilver original(I think). Quicksilver was one of the best San Francisco bands out of the late 60's. "Gold and Silver" is a jam over a repeating Dm7-G progression and is reminiscent of "Take Five". The song does go off into some kinda bridge but I didn't learn it.
I don't know if Gary Duncan or John Cippolina wrote it, but I always dug Cippollina's playing with his trademark SG whammy-bar vibrato. His solo's always had kind of a jazz influence to it although it wasn't really jazz.

Thanks for the reply 64sunburst!
The song Gold and Silver is credited to- Gary Duncan, S. Schuster on the album. I have emailed Gary but so far have received no response. I have no idea whom the S. Schuster might be.
I looked at the jazzy forums in hopes some Brubeck's fans might have some info.
The song seems to have died in obscurity.
I have always loved it, but can't seem to get my hands on the music.
Of course if I were a better musician as some here seem to be, I would/could pick it up by ear.
Yeah that was a shameless jab at ZAK in fun.

Hey man, sorry but I made a mistake in the chord sequence - it's Dm-Am, and not Dm-G. I don't know what I was thinking

Joelman,
I figured out the intro to 'Gold and Silver'. I'll PM you later today. I'll have to describe it without tabs because I don't know how to display tabs on-line.
Again, sorry for the mistake - it should be Dm-Am.

Zak, all in fun. I believe what you say you say from a lot of knowledge and experience.
I do know that your vast reserve of information can be overwhelming to some, but I rather enjoy and sometimes even learn something from your informative comments.

Very cool.
Yeah any starting note would get me going. I just can't get this one for some reason. It must be ear blockage or something.
I'll be waiting for the PM.
Thanks guys!

Dm-Am, huh?
Well, it's just a spur of the moment thought, but check out Silver Threads Among the Gold:
http://folkguitar.us/chords/Silver-Threads-Among-Gold.htm
Of course, here it's D-A, but minor is more interesting and so is S&G, to my mind.

There's a veeerrry looonnng midi at the latter.
I'm guessing an extended jam on the STATG theme here
S. Schuster suggests the publisher Simon & Schuster, which published folk music collections among other things.
