Permalink New Continental Magazine - #15 w/Dick Dale & 22 Track CD

I saw DD at the Pitcher House in Hermosa Beach back around 2000,
with the Torquays and the Insect Surfers,
I yelled out for him to play the Victor(my Fav song of his) and he did it,
all though it was a tad rough around the edges, he did it all the way thru.
and I was happy as a clam,
I gave it about a 7 on a 1 to 10 scale,
good enough for me,
that was when I told myself
after seeing him do 6 instro songs at the 1st Rendvous Ballroom reunion.
5 Instro songs with Dusty on Drums, in the Surfing Museum,
and the mostly Vocal free set at the Pitcher House w the Victor,
I was happy to not have to see him anymore.
unless he does a free show at the Beach or something like that.
but the 50 dollar New Years eve shows were def. off the must see list.

Thanks, Jaguar!

Well, I'm just guessing, based on what I'm hearing and my experience playing through Showman amps. Nothing more than that....

perfect Ivan. In particular you heard a better sound on higher volume, like more harmonics?

OT sorry - How is it setted your Showman amp?

Yes, exactly. Compare Dick's sound on something like Hava Nagila or any of the songs on Surfers' Choice (for example, Death of a Gremmie) to his sound on instro songs on Checkered Flag - much more overdrive and harmonics on the former, a very clean and anemic (IMHO) sound on the latter.

OT sorry - How is it setted your Showman amp?

I usually use the Normal channel with the volume between 6-8, depending on the room and on rare occasions a bit higher. Treble and bass controls are at 6.
