Gerard Lock, the bass player on Voodoo Courts first CD Electric Beach CD, and on our August 2001 performance on Phil Dirts Surfs Up program, has passed away. As of this time, I do not know when or how, other than it was on or before 11/17/2007 and he was found dead in his apartment.
Mark Kuhn and I were trying to get in touch with him to see if he was interested in flying to Asheville North Carolina later this spring to record new original VC songs and assorted covers in Marks new, just completed studio. There was a reference to his passing via a comment on his Myspace page, and there was a reference to it in someones blog, but the blog is set to private and I could only read the small blurb included in the Google search listing saying that he was found in his apartment. I have sent a message to the guy who posted the comment on Gerards Myspace in hopes of finding out what the hell happened.
Gerard was a great bass player the best I ever had the chance to play with. He was at heart a jazz player who loved to improvise and experiment. The best moments for me were during Mark's guitar solos, when Gerard would do off the wall bass riffs that I could key into and play around with. That was something I really grew to miss later on.
He'll be missed.

I'm terribly sorry to hear about your friend. I recall listening to some Voodoo Court mp3's online a few years ago and they were pretty good.

Thank you for your kind words. What happened to Gerard was preventable and a waste of a great talent and a young life.
The following two youtube videos were made today to show Gerard doing what he loved best. They are highly edited video files of a couple of shows, featuring only the moments when the video camera was pointed primarily at Gerard.
