a.k.a. black eyes, les yeux noir, Ochi chyornye (indorock version) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FALutagdHNw (gipsy style) (trad. russian folk style) (euro instro style) (opera style) (nightclub style) there's plenty more. but whatever you do, if you come across Bob Dylan and Patti Smith singing " Dark Eyes", do not, under any circumstance, listen to it. it's not even this song and it will make you barf, even if you like bob dylan and patti smith. —Rules to live by #314: |

I would have sound Lounge Version. I really like that jazzy/loungey version. —Jeff(bigtikidude) |

Hey cool videos Wannes, I like the Jimmy and the Rackets version(never heard of them). The Red Elvises have a song called "Scorchi Chornie", which is essentially the same song but they added lyrics. Chet Atkins version is cool too http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bcMB-vtyCBI — |

I'm pretty sure Ochi Chernye has lyrics. Yep, ... [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dark_Eyes_(song)]](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dark_Eyes_%28song%29%5D)! (Sorry - I can never remember how to quote characters like parentheses!) Also, this is another Space Age Pop standard, though, would you believe it, the guy forgot to include it. He needs a new category - Gypsy Soul. I don't know who this guy is, but his site is pretty helpful, though a bit scabrous. |

Thanks for the warning! There's also a song out there, called Malaguena, by the Tornadoes, which really is Dark Eyes. And there's another called Malaguena, by the Fantasticks, that is several of things, including maybe a half minute of something like Malaguena here and there, alternating with a half minute of something more like Misirlou. The latter in particular is OK, once you get over being annoyed that it's not quite Malaguena. |
