Hey!
I suppose you had talked about this band but perhaps many people don't know them over there. Playing since 1989, they were the first 100% Spanish instro band since the 60's
Fantastic musicians, great sound and songs, amazing shows. They have released a few days ago their fifth album, "El Ășltimo baile..."
They will be at SXSW 2009, Austin, from 18th to 22nd
If you have the chance to see them don't miss it.

well here's a band I wouldn't expect to ever get to see. But from New Orleans that's a pretty tolerable drive...

Jake, they told me that are trying to get two shows a day, four days (8 shows) but I don't know it exactly.
Monstro, I really don't know about distances over there. But I'm sure the trip worths it!!
Here is an interview I did with them a week ago for the Spanish National Radio. Yeah, it is in Spanish, but perhaps can be interesting here:

Weird, I hadn't even heard of this band before, but at our show with The Boss Martians on Saturday Evan was telling us Los Coronas is a band we really needed to check out.
If they're in your neck of the woods, go see 'em!

That's good news that they're coming to the U.S. I also have two of their albums and they have such a great sound. I'd love to be able to check them out live.

A great band; well worth seeing. Just wait until you see the trick where they play each others guitars - then go away and practise it with your friends!

I'm sure they will do a USA tour. This is the moment. They have been fighting for surf music since 1989. And I mean FIGHTING. In the early 90's in Spain just a few knew about surf music, we have not the American culture with this style. If they were lucky someone could say: "ah, like the Beach Boys do? But where is the singer?"
They were a pre-Pulp Fiction band in a period where it was really difficult to find vintage equipment around here. But they did. Now their role in Spain is very important. Thanks to their records and their incredible shows they have opened many eyes and ears into these sounds, not just people from rock'n'roll, they go far than this.
Two years ago, in Mexico, they were playing for venues with 800 hundred people. They even found pirate editions of their own records. It looked like in Mexico they knew better than in Spain what have Los Coronas meant for instro music.
At last Surforama Festival in Madrid (september 2008), all the Laika & the Cosmonauts members were amazed with Los Coronas' show.
I'm not their promoter, manager or anything similar. Just know them because we love surf and rock'n'roll music.
Hope you can see them soon.

We play Terrible Wavers. I love the way their guitars work together. We try to use the same type of interplay, so I threw the song into the mix. It's tons of fun to play! ![Smile Smile](/media/smiley/images/smile.gif)
