How does the ProCo Rat sound in the fuzz area? Oris is it more of a straight-up distortion pedal?
From what I understand the ProCat is more of a distortion pedal than a fuzz pedal, but the guy from Man or Astroman used it extensively. Can't be bad...

Big Muffs sound cool on their own, but I couldn't ever get one to work in a surf context.
I just won one of those on eBay, which makes me feel a little better about getting outbid for that Guyatone you mentioned.

the mxr distortion+ does alot of things for me.
I like these ( I have an original 70s model), but they are 'creamy', and not 'fuzzy'.
