Great pictures! No video, I guess? Or even just audio.

What, what, what?? Evan's not only playing a Jag, but plugging into a reverb unit into a blackface Showman? Are the Boss Martians in the process of rediscovering their roots?? Can it be?

Lemma tell ya.... The Verbtones were white-hot........

Acutronical reverb from floor to ceiling, and then some.

(Boss Martians were great too, but I didn't hear any surf or drags music...very impressive though..I think they have something; Just not sure what Laughing )

Yeah, it's been quite a transformation for the Boss Martians! Those early albums had some great surf instros. Evan's solo record had some hot surf tracks on it too.

Glad the Verbtones had a great show. Thanks for the pix!

Thanks for the pics,

I saw the Boss Martians about 5 years ago,
and Evan was playing a Les Paul I think, (not positive)
thru a Reverb tank and into some sort of Fender piggy back amp.

what I wanna know is,
why the hell are they all painted red.
Blasphemy Shocked

oh and nice Antigua bass.

Kyle demonstrates the proper way to stand on an amp, as opposed to the kid in the how-not-to-rock video. Laughing
Great pics.

CUTBACK

Jeff, Les Paul Custom and Bandmaster is Evan's old setup.

I don't think they are painted red(although it does look crappy like that). Since they are Soldano cabs my guess is they had Soldano retolex and regrille it for him. Soldano is local in Seattle and we had them retolex a Vox Jaguar for us.

It was a really fun show! The Boss Martians may not be a surf band anymore(although they did debut one instrumental) but they ROCK!!

btw..... I'm sure those Boss Martian cabinets are not red. They're orange. A redish orange, perhaps, but not red.

Mmmmm...I'd say they were more of an orangeish-red (but that's subjective so we can both be right Wink ) and the grillcloth was DEFINITELY 100% FOR SURE painted.

I'd also argue against the statement that the BM's were rediscovering their roots as both the tone and music was pretty distant from anything Surf. That's just an observation though, not a complaint.

The Boss Martians put on a powerhouse of a show and as a result won over a quite a few new fans. It was a great performance! FUN^2

Is that an Alesis Micron Synth I see? Those little things are pretty cool.

I was just wondering based on Evan's gear choices. I think it's surprising he still uses a Jag, a reverb unit and blackface piggyback Fender amp (Showman? Bandmaster?), given that he doesn't pursue the surf sounds anymore.

Ivan, Evan was filling me in on his Jag mods he did
he took the stock pickups out and stashed the originals away and replaced the pups with Seymour Duncan pups the neck has a "lip stick" pup and the bridge "thin strat style humbucker" that fits in the stock pickguard and cavity
he also told me he has a deal going with Seymour Duncan.

His amp rig is a mid 60s blackface Showman he also filled me in that he also used different cab box's for his Showman and reverb unit in order to save the originals away and that they have a buddy that makes cabs, one observation though at the show I couldn't make out any reverb coming out of his sound?

The Keyboard player used a blackface Twin Reverb Amp through a 4x12 cab.

Jon yes that was an Alesis synthesizer, Vox Jaguar and portable Hammond rig.

The bass player was using an old skool 70ish Ampeg bass head pretty sweet sounding too.
