Lefty, Los Straitjackets edition, .012 flatwounds.

First impressions: visually striking, of course. Some great tonal options with four single-coil pickups controlled by four rocker switches.

Those heavy flats are going to be a challenge, but when you hit that low E with a Big Stubby pick, it's got some authority. Need to get a good reverb effect ASAP.

This is my first electric guitar...I can't do much more than the cowboy chords right now, but I'm working on it. Put a surf instructional video on my Netflix queue.

Do you have any pictures to share?

JPL,
Sounds like a sweet score on that guitar... they always peaked my interest. My one recommendation if you really want to get that surfy sound would be to switch to something other than a Big Stubby as a pick. I have always found that a thinner, more pliable pick gives a little more "thwap" to your sound, especially with heavier strings. I use Big Stubbies myself, but limit it much more to when I'm playing jazz on my hollowbody. For surf, I'm all about the glow-in-the-dark alien head picks.

Check out the pics thread for an exhaustive run-down of popular choices:

I'll take some pics. It is not what you would call tastefully understated.

Thanks for the advice, SurfBandBill...I need all I can get.
