The Eliminators Surf Band of Orange County California have signed a deal with Paramount Pictures. Four songs composed and performed by The Eliminators will be used in the latest Beverly Hills 90210 DVD set. The Eliminators performed in two episodes of the popular series. It is for the original series. The Eliminators are more than willing to appear in the new series also. Paramount, are you out there?
The Eliminators will be playing at the Huntington Beach Pier on Sunday August 2, 2009. The bands new CD should be out by then. |

haha, good one. I actually watched quite a bit of the first series (Dont ask, it was a band thing) , so I might very well have heard them back when. Memory loss probably due to use of substances not endorsed by the eliminators management Rules to live by #314: |

I used to tune in because they used my high school, Torrance High School for West Beverly Hill High. It was also Sunnyvale High in the early Buffy the Vampire Slayer shows. Whatever happened to Preston Wilson? |

This is completely irrelevant, except in a six-degrees-of-separation sense, but Beverly Hills 90210's original writer-producer, Jessica Klein, was a friend of mine in college. I was in grad school at UCLA when she first came out to LA to pursue writing for TV (1980, I think), and we got together a few times for lunch, etc. I have absolutely no evidence that she picked up on surf music from me, or even that she had anything to do with putting the Eliminators on the show (her then-husband the late Steve Wasserman wrote one of the episodes they appeared on). But hey, it isn't impossible that I made her listen to Jon & the Nightriders' Surf Beat '80... |
