I have a question.
How many of you coming for this event,
Fri july 31st to Sun Aug 2nd.
will go down to San Diego for the Show that Ryan of Secret Samurai is doing on Fri July 31st.
I can book a show at the Purple Orchid in El Segundo, Near LAX for the people that come into LA or OC on Fri. and don't want to go to San Diego.
But I wish that I didn't have to do that, and everybody would go to San Diego show Fri night.
Please reply to this question, as it is necessary to know if you all want a show Fri in LA.
will book a local band not involved on sat or sun shows,
and one of the bands coming from outta state.
thanks

If I was playing, I'd rather do a gig in another city, although the P.O. is about an hour away from the SG101con, and San Diego is about 1&1/2 hrs away.
As a fan coming down, I'd rather not see the same bands 2 or 3 days in row. Unless they were incredible bands.

well considering that 4 bands are coming from other states or countries.
I need to get them gigs on fri and sunday. so there has to be a bit of
crossover.
If I do a show at the Purple Orchid on the Friday.
I will ask that the out of town band try to play songs that they not be playing at other shows. and of course the home band will not be at the sg101 event, or the pier show.
and of course it will kill me to decide which one to go to.

I think I'm gonna be in San Diego. Hah, I don't know if that helps.

As much as I'd like to see the bands in San Diego, a show at the Purple Orchid works better for me.
Thanks for askin', Jeff.

if I am coming, and I hope to be, I would prefer a FRIDAY NIGHT event in SAN DIEGO (nothing against THE PURPLE ORCHID, which I LOVE!)
it just breaks things up for me, and I get to go to SAN DIEGO and that area, which I totally dig
I would hope that whatever band plays SAN DIEGO does NOT then perform again on 'Convention Day' or at the Museum show on SUNDAY
I saw a response to SPF-4 who inquired if there was room to play and the answer was 'no', that bands are, if anything, 'overbooked'
my point is, to let as many different bands play, I would suggest that no artist play more than once during the 3-day weekend
my 3.5 cents

I'm probably going to have to try to hitch a ride to make the SD show. If I can make it out there, it's going to be a dirtbag trip, so I won't have a car.

I think the idea is to have a paying gig for out of town bands that go to all the trouble to travel and play the convention. I think you'll be in the tiny minority that goes to SD and the convention.
