Well, about 20 some years ago I made a resolution to never again make another NY resolution..................and I've kept it!!!!!! However....I have set a couple of goals this year. I'm going to try to make the SG101 convention and play rhythm on a a song during the jam session. Don't think i'll be ready to play lead, as I've only got 2 months of lessons in at this point. The other is to submit an mp3 for the 2009 compilation. Pretty sure I can manage that one. I'm trying very hard to focus on my lessons and learning to play. I'm having to rein in my impatience and understand that it may be a while before I start to sound halfway decent. I really want to start a mediocre garage surf cover band, if I can find the people to play with. I just have to keep reminding myself that we're looking at 2010 or 2011 before that becomes a reality. —Will "You're done, once you're a surfer you're done. You're in. It's like the mob or something. bigtikidude, let us know when we can hear some of your music. As for me, I resolved a few years ago to never give up playing guitar again until it is wrenched out of my cold dead hands... —Tim O |

I've resolved to seriously practice more (not just noodle around) and get better at the guitar. I've been frustrated with my playing for a while, so now is the time. |

To finish my partscaster Tele, to include completing my parts collecting for it. Got a slight bit of sanding to do, on the body, which once that's done I'll just clear coat it, rather than to worry about which shade of blue to use. Matt —Fast Cars & Loud Guitars! |

Jeff, this is huge! Congratulations! Every year, I say that this is the year that I'm gonna get a band together and get back into it. I've got a new job that doesn't suck the life out of me, so there's no excuses this year. I bought a digital audio work station for making demos, and just placed a deposit on a Gomez G-Spring reverb tank, about which I am totally stoked! Recent killer CD releases are tremendously inspiring, and I'm so looking forward to SG101 convention weekend II. It's gonna be a GREAT year! Bob —Bob |

My real resolution (although I was serious about not bumping headstocks) is to find a good surf drummer in the Dayton, Ohio area. I've written several songs over the last few years and I would love to hear what they sound like with a kick ass drummer instead of with my horrible drumming on my horrible Yamaha DR-55 digital drum thing. |

My "surf" resolution is to play very little surf guitar to improve my overall guitar playing and which will improve my "surf" playing at the same time. |

my resolution is to learn surf bass or just bass in general. |

Mucho practice is my main priority... there's LOTS of time to make up for (~18 years); also to either purchase or build a guitar I will truly bond with. — |

to chart out the chord progression to every tune i know instead of having a lot of them scribbled on scraps of paper. — |

I'm totally stoked about this year. I'm going to work my butt off to keep learning to play guitar. I'm going to try and write and/or play something for the 2009 Compiliation (no matter how bad I think it is) Lastly, after a family tragedy about 5 years ago, I sort of stopped taking care of myself and this year I'm going to get back into shape. How is this surf related? My wife was so happy with my decision, she's offered to buy me a reverb tank as an extra incentive/reward. —https://www.facebook.com/index.php?lh=9353f9155b5ff32e14c998495fd00da4&#!/rich.derksen.7 |
