I have no comment on the song (haven't listened to it). Just wanted to clarify that the "Encyclopedia of Sound" volumes aren't really Los Straitjackets albums meant for general public consumption. They created those "songs" (some of them are just snippets, not fleshed out songs) in order to get them inserted into movies, TV, commercials, radio jingles, etc. They only started selling them as digital downloads after people were hawking the "Not for Sale" copies on eBay for big bucks.

it seems that way. I love it

Tough crowd indeed!
The song made me smile. The artwork made me laugh. I'd say mission accomplished.

just got off the phone with EDDIE ANGEL
told him about the mixed reactions the song is getting here in SG101
he told me this track is NOT being released on any forthcoming albums
only being made available as a download
thought fans and those following this thread would want to know that

I thought the song was ok for the price...FREE. I love LSJ and have several of the CD's , but not all cuts on all CD"s hit a home run with me. The important thing is a majority of the cuts hit a home run and thats why I turn loose of my $$ for them. I see this tune as a off the cuff, spur of the moment attempt at a particular tune with no polish or refinement applied. At least not yet.

You mean free to listen to. It's .99 cents to download.

It's funny, I've ofter wondered how some Nirvana songs could be adapted to surf.
I believe even Cobain liked surf. There's a Live And Loud rehearsal video on youtube where he breaks into playing Pipeline for a few seconds!

Here ya go, a free download of Pollo Del Mar's version of "Come as You Are" off our now out of print "Live In Japan Town" CD. Enjoy.
The Aqua Velvets did a version of "Smells Like Teen Spirit" available on the bonus disc to the "Radio Waves" CD.

I see you are in Seattle... We played that song at the Tractor in September, and the place went kookoo. I think Nirvana still strikes a chord in peoples hearts up there. Nirvana is ripe for instrumental versions- short songs, good melodies.

Yea man. After Cobain's death it was like the wind taken from our sails. Was jamming with a few guys and we gave it up in late 94. It seemed the party was over - music was over.
I still remember the zoo of activity going on out side Cobain's Lake Washington home well into summer 94! Hell, every spring people still go there.. It's freakin' nuts!

Whether it was a goof or an outtake or whatever, who cares?.
I care if it is bad. I generally care about quality of the recorded music I listen to. My favorite bands do have bad songs and make unwise choices. Nobody is perfect.
I don't think this was a track meant for an album. I'm pretty sure this a just a case of throwing a bone to the fans. It's fun.
Exactly. The song sounds like what it was probably intended to be: a garage band knock-off of a pseudo-punk band. LSJ seem not to take themselves too seriously, which in my view is their primary charm. Well, that and putting out some of the best instrumental rock in years. (OK, I admit I could do with less Spanish language swing stuff.)
