Actually after her modeling career, she became a religious nut and was institutionalized after trying to stab the man she was living with, and again after trying to stab a neighbor. Read her biography, it is pretty depressing.

I've read it actually, and yes it's pretty depressing. It's true she went crazy from time to time.Sadly it's was the moralist of the day that convinced Bettie to end her modeling career. She in turn became a religious nut.I think she would have been fine if not for all the pressure, and guilt laid upon her from the uptight sect of America.

As usual I disagree with 98% of the dribble that spew's from your mouth.Of course you wouldn't like her haircut, the bangs specifically,as you put it.Her hair was perfect in my opinion, and that mean's in every style she had it in.I was wondering Jake if it's just your nature to try to shoot down everything that comes up on this site. It's a shame your such a jaded jerk, because I actually like your band a lot.
Sorry I don't like her hairstyle. Doesn't mean I don't like Bettie and appreciate what she has done. Also, I apologize for saying when I don't like something. I like plenty of things and I dislike a lot of things. It is called an opinion. Differing opinions seem taboo to a lot of people here. Differing opinions are the first type of opinion to be noticed.
Thanks for liking the band. The next CD is going to be a progression one what we did the first time. Probably some MP3s up on the web in a couple months.

I also like to think that all early 60's fender equipment is happy to be playing surf music again. After all, its the music it was meant to play.

Bummer. Bettie Page defined a look that transcended time, evident by the amount of women who still, to this day, try to cop her style. She was truly iconic.

Her death is getting a lot of media coverage. A tribute to her success.

Bettie was beautiful because she looked like a real woman...not too skinny, not too fleshy. She looked like the "girl next door" but (obviously) had a wild side. In the 50s world of peroxide blondes with big boobs and wide hips, she left them in the dust IMHO. RIP Bettie.

Betty Page imo was the sexiest woman ever. RIP
How did the waif look ever become popular in modeling? This is a woman.

The thing about Bettie was she had this powerful aura that shown through in her photographs. She wasn't a dead-eyed model looking for a paycheck. Sure she had drop-dead stunning looks, but also an inner beauty, passion, strength and fire that you could see in her smile and eyes. Even in the fetish photographs it was there (and maybe that is why those photos are so powerful). She totally embraced whatever pose or scenario she was shot in.

Even in her old age she still had that killer smile and twinkle in her eyes:

Taken in something like 2003, at a Playboy function.

I once read an interesting (though admittedly off the wall) article about the "infiltration" and taking over of the fashion industry (that being a broad term meant to include many things) by male homosexuals and the subsequent "change" in style toward more waifish-looking women. The logic goes that the same look that appeals to male homosexuals has krept into mainstream fashion and subsequently been marketed to women in general as the way to be. I don't think it's as bad as it used to be, at least judging from the rag wracks at the grocery checkout.

Regarding 'waifishness'... I don't really notice it at the supermodel level. Sure they are quite thin but they appear healthy and in amazing shape with some 'curve' to them. However, fashion and runway models literally do look like waifs. Bodies are as straight as a board, no fat on their face. Just sickly looking. They go beyond waif, they look like they are battling a terminal cancer.
Also, models are probably on average 6-7 inches taller than Betty was. So you are going to appear skinnier, although Betty wasn't fat at all.

I wouldn't say that. What defines flat? Different sizes are more flattering on certain body types.

That's Brian's favorite smilie. OK, seems like a shame about her though, she was pretty.
