I'm not a huge fan of vocals in surf, but a good hot rod song is okay by me. I always liked the Trashmen for that kind of stuff the best. For modern bands, The Boss Martians had vocals. The Volcanos had an EP of vocal songs. As Warren said, the Thunderchiefs do it well also. —Site dude - S3 Agent #202 "It starts... when it begins" -- Ralf Kilauea |

I like what I've heard from the malibooz. Definitely not surf but great vocal group beach music . |

For 60's stuff, musically you're probably not going to top the Fender IV's "You Better Tell Me Right Now." I think the Trashmen probably had the highest percentage of good vocal material ... or at least, the lowest percentage of lame material. What Ted said about Gary Usher's projects. There's some really cool vocal stuff on the "Get a Board" comp, including the Mark IV's "Swingin' Hangout," which is an awesome song. -Warren —That was excessively violent and completely unnecessary. I loved it. |

Speaking of the Fender IV/Son's of Adam, this album is really great. |

How could I forget the Fleshtones. Okay, not a surf band per se but they kinda have a surfy vibe. Great band anyways with a really cool guitarist Keith Streng....plays a Mustang or Duo-Sonic? |

although when i first heard The Super-Stocks, i thought that Gary's vocals were similar to The Surfaris' stuff, but i was 100% sure up until now that Ron Wilson(their drummer) was the voice behind The Surfaris...at least that's what I've read. did Gary just sing all of The Surfaris vocal tunes?? — |

I'm pretty sure it's Jim Fuller singing their ultra-crap version of "Hound Dog." -Warren —That was excessively violent and completely unnecessary. I loved it. |
