Permalink OLSON "FRIZZY"-FUZZ

New Topic

My bass player died a couple years ago and in the back of an old brown gibson combo amp was this little red box with one knob and one switch and strangely enough an imput plug sticking out of it's side. Imprinted on the box is "plug into your instrument" I've tried putting a 9V in it and it's dead.
Does anyone have any info on OLSON products. Especially "FRIZZY"-FUZZ?

Thanx

no ouput?

is there any other language on or inside the box? might give a clue to origin

Yes there's an output side marked amp and the "plug" side is marked instrument. There's a slider switch marked OFF and BOOST and a small black knob. Printing on the face of the unit reads "PLUG INTO INSTRUMENT" which would be impossible with a strat. Underneath the OLSON logo is "XM-14 O". That's it. It's about 2 inches by 3.25 by 1 inch. Aluminum casing, red. I just took the face screws off the inside looks kind of messy, no circuit boards, just capacitors and resistors wires in a straight line between input and output. The battery in it was dead, so I'll pick up a fresh one later today and try this thing out. I don't think it's dead after all, (I think I was plugging it in backwards)
I'll keep ya posted.

Thanks joelman! That is indeed the box I have except for the Solvaka name and model number. I put a fresh battery in this thing and nothing other than a slight overdrive came through. It wasn't "frizzy" or "fuzzy".
Thanx for the link tho!
