Thanks Ivan, I've been considering getting one for a backup, now I have no excuse.

all I can say is ... for $99 ... GET ONE NOW! where on earth are you gonna get very decent DI with speaker simulator for direct recording (and adjustable line level), a very decent practice amp with headphones out (again, with speaker simulator) and a very poweful 2x75 stereo amp with cd-player rca jacks in, for those parties where you home stereo just doesn't cut it, all for 99 bucks?

oh and as a bonus, it doubles as an adequate live amp, for backup or for when you need to carry light. by no means is this a blackface tube fender amp - but, esp with a reverb tank in front of it, it gets you close enough tonot be ashamed. In fact, if I had the choice between the powerblock and an UL late 70's fender (I own(ed) both) I'd choose the powerblock.

Thanks for the heads-up, Ivan! Got it in my Wish List, for now, but as soon as I get a chance, when gearing up toward recording, I'll be buying one. The versatility of it, as WR described, is reason enough for me to want one.

Don't wait. I know of at least 20 other guys who bought them today, yours truly included. They're probably clearing these out because a new model's coming. Maybe it will have 'verb. Drool

Unfortunately, I've other monetary commitments that preclude jumping on this one, right away. Sad If they're still around, in a week or two, I'll snag one. Right now, it's about priorities, which means I may hold off a bit, on upgrading my new Epiphone, if it means being able to buy a PowerBlock.

I completely understand having other priorities. I hope I didn't come across as trying to push anyone in my effort to inject a little enthusiasm for the product. That wasn't my intention. I'm just a GAS enabler.

For no one in particular I just copied this from another forum. It looks like there may be a limited supply after all.

I wouldn't hold out waiting for an upgrade. Rumor has it that outside of this small circle of enablers the Power Block has been a non starter for Crate. They have been offering promo pricing to dealers for the past several months with few takers. GC/MF probably bought up the remaining stock at substantial savings and are liquidating the remaining inventory. If you want a new one I'd look to get it now rather than wait for the Vapor Ware V.2 model.

I've owned a Crate before, still do actually. And I have no need for another. Its sounds alright with a tank. Its 120 watts like the Power Block. My '64 Vibroverb is light enough for me. The Showman isn't very light, but that is life. The lows sound amazing and that outweighs the weight.

I just ordered one. I couldn't pass it up at that price! Thanks
for the heads-up, Ivan!!! Very Happy

I picked one up too... it'll make for a good backup, and a nice option for a little headphone practicing.

Now I just need to find a new speaker for my headphones...

I went ahead and ordered one, although it shows at Musician's Friend as "Due 09-22-06." Payday's tomorrow, so I figured I can afford to take the plunge. Smile

I didn't originally intend to get one, but I succumbed. For that kind of money, you can't go wrong, and it WOULD be nice to have a small and light gig backup. Thanks, uhhh, I guess to ME for bringing this to my attention! Mr. Green

I got one too. That thing is so small, I'm thinking of building a _ futuristic _ amp cabinet and stick it inside there.

Worship kudos to Ivan

From all the interest shown here, it looks like they found the right selling price. I bought one a couple of months ago for $179 and thought that was a steal Exclamation

So far, so good. I'm not a good source for a comparative review because the only other amp I've ever owned was an Epiphone that I got for high school graduation back in 1965 Laughing It has 2 EL34's, but was never very loud, it couldn't keep up with the Bandmaster my band mate had back then. Now that I'm playing again, I needed something louder and Doug Forbes recommended the Powerblock. I don't regret it. I put my homemade reverb on the front end, and I build two 2x12 cabs using 4 Jensen drivers I've had in storage since 1967 (from a failed amp project Embarassed ) With the reverb, it sounds surfy to me Very Happy

Plus Bruce from Longboard Ranch says how great it is, so it has to be
a buy of a lifetime. Wink

I liked the Power Block at $199 - At half that price, it's definitely a smokin' deal.

A 150-watt Class A amp for under $100?

What is a "NO-BRAINER"???
