I just purchased a new "G-Spring" reverb tank and I have a question about the set up effects chain..I have a pedal board with wah-overdrive-distortion-delay and chorus effects (which I must have)..Should I run my guitar to the pedal board and then out to the outboard reverb tank to the amp or guitar into the tank and then out to the pedal board and then to amp? Thanks

Why were single posts deleted and not entire threads? It created some confusion.

As you have now noticed, there are two threads.
The moderators of this site reserve the right to alter, modify, or delete any comment at any time. This should probably be more clearly stated in the forum rules. In practice, this doesn't happen very often. In fact it is very uncommon. However, this editing doesn't make the forum "communist". This isn't a public place; you are a guest here. I pay for the server, and ultimately the "staff" and I decide what is allowable content. This may surprise you, but it isn't an unusual practice on message boards across the internet.

I'm confused. Nothing was deleted.

Put your filters, like your wah first. typically your time/doppler effects like delay, or leslie last, and your distortion in the middle. Reverb is basically a fancy physical delay system and you probably want that dead last but that's pretty much common sense if you are playing surf type stuff. As to your distortion vs. your overdrive, you need to try those in different orders. You'll probably find that you prefer one in front of the other, but on the other hand you can change up your tone very easily by swapping them around if you feel your sound is stale. Same goes for all your pedals. Delay after your reverb? It'll change your sound, and you may prefer it, but don't expect the surf tone snobs to applaud.
Of course you can do whatever you like, and some folks who are into extreme sounds love putting distortion in front of their wah and modulators.

not to drag this on and on, as I know nothing was deleted,
but I would rather see posts deleted than a whole tread if necessary.

Okay! I didn't post anything, but I though some of the posts were deleted because the above events confused me. I thought replies to a redundant thread were deleted instead of the redundant thread.

I believe what happened was the original poster asked his question in the For Sale forum, realized his mistake, and asked again here. That is all.

Hey, I was kind of kidding about the communist thing. Didn't mean to ruffle any ones feathers. I love sg101 and the forums. Sorry to confuse every one further.

Now back to a question that has been asked a few times before.

And the answer is: try it yourself and see. But usually for "useable" sounds, it goes guitar->any pedals->tank->amp.

I put my vibrato/trem pedal after the tank, just like it would be if I used it from onboard my amp.

Thanks everyone..I am sorry for causing the agitation and confusion..I wasn't sure where best to post so I did both..I was beginning to think all you posters were on holiday or something..Again my apologies..Probably still riding my wave of compulsiveness after my purchase of a Gomez reverb! I do want to say I really dig this forum and I am seriously falling for surf rock at the young age of 47..It feels good..Thanks again..Cheers

I'm with you on this one. Tremolo is actually one I'll put into the effects loop if the amp has one.

BigMike - My tank is last in the signal chain, after my pedal board and before the amp. It seems to work for my rig.

I just got an oilcan delay, and if you put before the tank it won't work: it's gotta go after the tank to hear any effect.
