Bo Diddley by Bo Diddley.
But I don't think it would be half as good if I wrote it..
"Nicholas Appleby Nicholas Appleby have ya heard.." doesn't quite roll of the tongue!

I wish I wrote "You lost that luvin' feelin', the most played song on radio. Also wish I'd written a bunch of the Beatles & Eagles stuff and in surf, Wipeout. I'd be a rich mo fo with a mansion on the beach in Maui & a private jet among other things. I'd fly all my bros over & we would have the most epic Big Kahuna surf jam ever.

On the surf side of things: Jewel of Duende or Escape from Gulag 17 by the Space Cossacks. Hawaii Joe by Bambi Molesters although I probably wouldn't let it on an album I made. I would just play that riff forever. Awesome.
non-surf: Hard Way to Fall by Ryan Adams, Isis by Bob Dylan, Veronica by Elvis Costello and Paul McCartney, I'm Looking Through You by the Beatles, or I'll Follow the Sun, or I've Just Seen a Face.
Classical- Pachebel(otherwise a crummy composer): Canon in D, Bach: Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring, Wanderer's Awake(Wachet Auf something or other), Reqeium, Vivaldi: In Mundo Pax, Beethoven: the 9th(most brilliant thing ever written although not my favorite) Mozart: KV588? Quartet for Woodwinds

N.Y. 79 and Global Village by Laika & the Cosmonauts
Red Sunrise by the Space Cossacks
And what the hell, being credited with Telstar would be righteous.

Ryan,
Some Girls are Bigger than Others?
And in all seriousness I wish to add "There is a Light That Will Never Go Out" to the list. String arrangement is amazing, and then there are Morrissey's best lyrics.

Well, if we're going there then I'd definitely have to pick Asleep and I Know its Over.

We are going there. Technically surf songs aren't even songs since songs must include words for it to be considered a song. If it were musical pieces then we might be in trouble non-surf wise.

You know, I think I'd settle for just having done a nice arrangement or adaptation of something. The surf version of Yankee Doodle or whatever.

A sampling, in order:
Intruder - The Surf Coasters
The Saracen - The Madeira
The Space Victory Theme - The Space Cossacks
The Silly Elephant Who Stomped To Tea - The Mermen
The Victor - Dick Dale
Laser Runner - Daikaiju
El Corazon de Loco Jorge - The Bambi Molesters
Plight of the Matador - King of Hawaii
Sifaka - The Pyronauts
Wayward Nile - The Chantays
Johnny Foo: Ninja Chiropractor - Pollo Del Mar
It's a pretty eclectic mix, but I really envy the songwriting prowess behind all those songs.

That's why I started this thread, I wanted to know who was jealous of whose song writing skills, bwuahahahahah. In all seriousness I was just curious as too what everyone appreciates musically.
