here is a great video clip someone just sent me
it's from THE LAWRENCE WELK SHOW
(I know many of you have seen THE CHANTAYS clip from that show)
anyway, it's the twin guitar stylings of Buddy Merrill & Neil LeVang
I would appreciate it if some of you could enlighten me about these 2 shreddin' guys....I only have a vague knowledge about them

Buddy Merrill was my first introduction to the electric guitar. My parents watched the Lawrence Welk show every week for years. Buddy is also an awesome steel guitar player. My earliest interest was actually the steel guitar but after I found out what they cost I settled for "second best", ha.
Buddy has recorded a vast collection of albums and he has an extensive web site. Most of his recordings were done as per Les Paul, with Buddy recording all the parts himself.
Don't know too much about Neal LeVang. He just showed up on the Welk show and I kinda feel was the reason that Buddy took off for greener pastures........
No doubt though, both those guys made it look so damn easy and Buddy's ceaseless smile made it look like the most fun one could ever have. Here I am 45 years later....................It was (NO IS) the most fun anyone can ever have.
