Yeah, I bet you didnt know how much the members of Fleetwood Mac and surf musicians actual have in common. Or is William Rose Jr. a more sensible analogy? Hey, its just rocknroll. Someone asked about Big Wave Dave? He also has a personal manager I hear. I guess his personal manager and the other one didnt get along very well. |

Danny I think he's talking about Dave Klein. Here's another GOs interview http://www.deadboypro.com/ghastly-ones.html. This video is kinda funny yet strange at the same time http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VXZcO7J2AnM that's Norman in the Lab coat. — |

A surf (ish) band member has a personal manager? Who knew Are you talking about Jake or the ghastly guys? Jake may be in a non-surf band now, but he really knows his shit when it comes to surf music. Not to mention he's been into it since he was a teen. The GO's got into surf after seeing bands like Jakes. Before Garret learned to play surf guitar from Lord Hunt's recordings, he was totally into metal and AC/DC. Seems a pitty to marginalize someone with such a long history in surf, but give a pass to bandwagon jumpers. |

No, but it seems a pity to marginalize anyone who didn't come out of the womb with a Surfer's Choice LP. Sorry if any of us who got into surf after '94 have offended your sensibilities. -Warren —That was excessively violent and completely unnecessary. I loved it. |

I'm also confused. No one was being marginalized. Danny was just expressing surprise that someone who plays in this style of music has a personal manager. He didn't even name names. This thread is about Rob Zombie and the surf connection. Although it has deviated into "what happened to the Bomboras", which is fine. The Bomboras were a very influential band and it is too bad they don't appear to be playing out anymore. PS Anyone who came to surf post 1964 is a bandwagon jumper. However the bandwagon for surf is so small it can only hold 2 small children and maybe a cat. —Site dude - S3 Agent #202 "It starts... when it begins" -- Ralf Kilauea |

Yeah, I think this Double Coil guy needs to chill out. Danny was just surprised that someone in a Surf/Instro group even had a manager. Hey this thread did run off into "What happened to the Bomboras?" that's OK, it also shortly went into Surfin' Bird

I guess you could also call Jake a "bandwagon jumper" as well. Ask Rob Zombie how much he had to pay Pamita from The Neptunas for the use of the name. The Bomboras was originally her band, she trademarked the name "Bomboras" then when they got signed (without her in the band) Rob came to realize they didn't even own the rights to the name...Zombie a go go had to kick down some dough for the use of the name. There's some history for you doulblecoil... |

Gee wizz, dont be so defensive guys. Mr. Overhead, while you think you were educating me about the payout to Pam, it seems that you may have missed the interesting thread about the Huntington Cads a few weeks back that went into detail about that very subject. You see, pam wanted a whoping $10,000 for the name but settled for about $3,000. Now Jeff Boardwalker (Pam's husband) adamantly denies this. It also turns out that Pam had registered the name without anybody knowing and told the members of the bomboras to keep using the name and that it wasnt a problem. She waited for the right opportunity and WHAM! I dont know if I would say that Jake jumped the Pam/Bombora bandwagon cause maybe you forget that he was a founding member of The Finks, a little while before the Bomboras. Theres a little history for you Ted. |

Overhead Ted is correct. Its the world we now live in, and unfortunately the sad, greedy side of human nature may surface when you least expect it. The lesson here is to make sure you have even your best friends signature that waves any rights they may have to ownership of the name if he or she ever leaves the band. In the Bomboras case, Pam left by her own decision and received hugs from all. I still remember that day. Four years later, she felt differently about it. The amount? Lets just say it was chump change, but perhaps worth it to some, sadly. |

As long as we're talking Bomboras and celebrating Gregg's return to SG101, do you have any plans to record? That song you did with Benny for the Kreepsville comp was really cool. -Warren —That was excessively violent and completely unnecessary. I loved it. |

Heeee! Happy scare-o-ween! After the Bob Wilkins Creature Feature marathon winds down, the jack o lanterns start to dim, and you catch your breath from the truly scariest event of this Halloween season: opening and viewing your 401K and IRA statements which just arrived in the mail, consider a late-night listening of the wax which Captain Springfield just referred to. Itll take you on a spooky and bloody adventure with the soul-less hack of Sleepy Hallow himself, the Headless Man, and will be sure to send shivers down your spine and boil your blood! Visit http://www.myspace.com/lordhunt for a listen! Mr. Springfield, thank you for your interest in the Kreepsville comp! With all the nonsensical quarreling and entanglements which Von Kreep had to endure with a certain So Cal band for releasing that LP, hell be happy to know that there are still fans out there like yourself! Actually I never left the forum and I have to admit Ive been somewhat of a lurker here for a while. Yes! we play with Benny of the Volcanics all the time and are currently at work on a new release! With Paul Buck (who replaced me briefly in the Bomboras, and which I later replaced in the Invisible Men - pretty incestuous band, eh?) coming down from Portland, OR for an extended stay in L.A., we have a new musician to collaborate with and a bounty of fresh music arrangements and inspiration! We will most likely focus on vocal numbers, as that is one of Pauls strengths, but will be sure not to ignore our instrumental roots. Thanks again, and have a spooktacular All Hallows Eve! |
