Three Balls of Fire (with Jonny Hamilton on bass) just wrapped up a brief 4-song KFJC (89.7) Pitstop broadcast. Davie allan is coming up shortly. Phil Dirt is on the premises, working on the sound. Uncle Al is DJ'ing until Phil get's freed-up from sound duties. Then off to Pacifica for the show at Winters' Tavern. Yeah!

Great show in Pacifica last night. All four bands were on the top of their game. The Coppertones did a high-energy set of mostly instrumentals. Normally I don't wanna hear vocals at a surf show, but the Coppertones vocal tunes are kind camp, and fun. Mike, Jenni, and (ex Lava Rats) drummer, Taylor, were really playing well. It's the best I've heard the Coppertones sound in the +/- half dozen times that I've seen them. What can I say about the TomorrowMen??? They've been great since the git-go, but they've grown exponentially, and they're as good as it gets for me. Danny was on fire. He sounded great through his brand new Quilter Steelaire, and on his recently-won SG101 start. Ferenc was the perfect foil for Danny. I really dig the harmonized dual leads that they're doing. Powerful stuff! And what a kick-ass rhythm section. Steve is solid as a rock, and Tony totally blew me away. Great songs, played really well. Only thing I would've wanted was a longer set. But on a four-band-bill, sets run a tad short. Three Balls of Fire came on next, and played one of the best sets that I've heard them do. A big shout out to NorCal bass guitarist, Johnny Hamilton (Berserkers, Shig and Buzz, Mach IV, Shi-Tones, and so many more). Johnny was nailing it, the whole set. We're talking intricate baselines, here. Nothing short of amazing. Chris on drums was terrific, and Mike Vernon was on top of his game. Outstanding set. Last, but not least, the legend, Davie Allan, blew the doors down. It was about an hour's worth of searing fuzz. Great songs, played incredibly well by Davie, drummer chris, and Mike Vernon on bass. It was a good sized crowd, really into it,and making a lot of noise. Another epic night at Winters' Tavern.
