Yep. When you have watched Dirty Fuse, Phantom Four, Fifty Foot Combo and Daikaiju in a row with only a few minutes break in between, you not only have to recover, you have to reassemble yourself.
For the moment just a few impressions:
I was really surprised by The Krontjong Devils, I didn't know that they are so good (and they had their new album for sale). But the biggest surprise for me was Dirty Fuse. What a fantastic band!
And to answer the question I really don't like, who was the best ... I would say Fifty Foot Combo (sorry Jeff). They were even better than at Surf-O-Rama (by my opinion). But all the bands were really, really good.
An awesome day in Amsterdam.
Pictures - at the moment i just have two - one I made a few hundred meters away from The Melkweg, the other shows my perception of Daikaiju

It is on its way the complete FullHD set of Surfer Joe & The Tonomats at Melkweg for the North Sea Surf Festival. Just finishing editing...

First band on the stage were The Akulas from Belgium. Groovy surf ska organ! Les Agamemnonz were not able to come, so their show was cancelled. Next The Krontjong Devils, inspired by Dick Dale and the indorock of The Tielman Brothers, this band from the City of Groningen in the Netherlands started playing surfrock in the early 90s. Fantastic performance! Too bad they played three vocal songs, yes they should get 'strafpunten' (penalty points) for that.

The Twang-o-Matics from Norway followed, with a double bass instead of bass guitar. A guest washerboard musician joined them for one song. Liked their performance very much, no reverb but instrumental rock. Surfer Joe (Italy) & The Tonomats (Netherlands) match perfectly. What can I say, one of the best performances of this festival, classic reverb surf!

Then Dirty Fuse, great to hear them play surf rock with Greek music influences! For about half their set lead guitarist Duda Victor was sitting on the edge of the podium playing his traditional small greek acoustic guitar, that really sounded great together with the band that included a saxophone player.

Next the The Phantom Four, playing wonderful melodies. One of the best performances of the evening. Lots of tracks of their last album, Mandira. As a surprise they played Red Hot Navigator (released as a single in 1995), from the Treble Spankers period. Fifty Foot Combo from Belgium sounded way different then their albums. A wall of sound of punkrock, no melodies just a repeating riff. The theremin was only used partly in one song. The performance of the song Taboo was different though, dreamy hypnotic exotica with a clear guitar sound, marvelous! Their last song was a punkrock vocal, let's forget about that very quickly.

Last band was Daikuiju from the USA. They certainly know how to perform a show! Their progressive heavy metal lacks melodies but the playing amongst the audience, the drummer's lifting act and the fire act were a lot of fun! And by the way, the solo intermezzos of Phantom Frank and Steinar Karlsen in the cinema room upstairs were great too.

Looking back, after the previous (2010, 2011 and 2013) North Sea Surf Festivals, another great evening. Many thanks to all the bands that participated and special thanks to Niels (drummer of the Phantom Four) for organizing the festival!

I don't care what kind of music Daikaiju is called.
I say it's awesome, and love it.

Thanks for that Lorenzo, I just watched the whole thing. I think my favorite song of yours is Fire Escape Rope.

Ha! You had the time to listen to all? great!
For us was a great experience and show. The sound on stage was brilliant to me and punchy outside. Melkweg is really an amazing venue.

Yes I agree! At the Melkweg we had the best sound ever!
