Permalink Finally after 30 years...NGD!

It's been a long journey on my quest for a Jazzmaster. Like 3 years worth.

First of all many thanks to Tim (the fez), Matt G, Johnny Kahuna, Noel and Mel Bergman for endless discussions, comments and recommendatins. They have been the nicest and greatest guys to talk with, especially on recommending what I should look for, offer and many other things. About 4 months ago, I was going to have one built, but Mel advised, it would probably be a fantastic guitar, but it's not a Fender!

Alot of the times, I was tempted by MIJ's and CIJ's, but deep down inside I just couldn't. Wanted to buy American made AVR strat.

It cames this morning at around 10A. Like a kid on Hanukkah morning, she arrived. Opened it up and just gorgeous. Oh, it's 65 AVRI JM. It's used. Some guy bought it in the excitement of things, got bored with it very quickly and put it. I found this on ebay in MINT condition. Reno music in Indianapolis listed it for $2000 and at bottome they said make us an offer, we're always into making deals. Offered $1800 and they accepted. Free shipping and not tax. Can't beat that. Feels great. Haven't had time to play through amp. Very small gauge strings on it. Can't wait to put 11's flatwounds on it.

Well, Howard, you did it at last. Congratulations! No matter how well they photograph, these Aztec Gold Jazzmasters look so much better in person. But they feel, play and sound even better than they look. I'm really looking forward to hearing you play it.

This is Noel. Reverb's at maximum an' I'm givin' 'er all she's got.

Well Big Congratulations and a hat tip for perseverence.
Beautimous!

Excellent choice Howard! What a beauty! I bet you love the sound of it too! Study various setups that are floating around for the JM, but don't be too quick to ditch the stock bridge and saddles etc. My AVRI JM is stock and is set up in the right way and has no buzzes or rattles.

He who dies with the most tubes... wins

Maybe I need to venture out and consider a different color JM.

Hey, hey, hey........nice, VERY nice.

Traditional........speak softly and play through a big blonde amp. Did I mention that I still like big blonde amps?

Good choice! Back in 2001, I went through my own decision process and went with an Inca Silver Jazzmaster. I loved the color and a decent vintage Jazzmaster would have been far more expensive. I'd rather spend my money on the guitar itself, not because it has collector value.

The stock strings definitely need to go as soon as possible, though. Once I put flatwounds on, the guitar came to life. Enjoy your early Christmas present!

If it ain't broke, fix it until it is.

Superb!

Sweet!
You just wanna lick it.

Mine the same colors, but from the Thin-Skin line (no binding nor witch hats!), also 1st in a looong time, so I feel ya. Enjoy!

Very nice! Congratulations!

Absolute class. Congrats on your well-deserved, gorgeous NGD!

I've been thinking of refinishing my cheapo Strat, and gold is a big contender for the color shoot.

I am sure that isn't Shoreline...is that Aztec Gold or Firemist Gold?

Sure is a beauty.

Man, that looks fabulous. Congratulations, Howard1

Do it! I did. You won't be sorry. Can't remember what the color is called because the cans are long gone. Turned out OK for a minimal prep spray job.
