Here's a demo of the Eastwood Sidejack Bass VI that we have been using quite a bit alongside our Teiscos. The intro music is also the Bass VI.
Hope you find this useful.
Dig that Vibrato!

Useful indeed! Thank you.
If you don't mind, a couple of questions:
What amp do you use in those demos?
How does it perform in the role of Bass (sound and playability) compared to a regular long scale? Also - compared to other VI's (that you've tried).
Cheers.
Love the other videos too. Sounds great!

DreadInBabylon,
The amp used in the Bass VI video is a line 6 bass amp, practice sized.
The Bass VI is fantastic sounding as a "regular" Bass, much better than other six string basses I've played or heard and the playability is very easy and rather addictive. When Oscar first received the bass I thought it would sound a little more baritone guitar-ish or slightly clunky, tic tac sounding but it does not. It's very warm and full sounding. If you have a minute, check out some of our other Crazy Aces youtube videos. You can hear the bass in a few other situations, mic'ed through the board and just plain room sound captured with a camera.
I'll have Oscar, Crazy Aces bass player chime in here as well to give more Bass Player reflections on the instrument.

Wonderful to know, thank you!
"rather addictive" you say, huh?

Already did To me is sounds as great as any bass, I mean it's really hard to distinguish, that's why I am grateful for your personal insights.
I think it's time for me to order one. Or the Schecter Hellcat VI (with SC's), which doesn't have a vibrato, but I bet is an instrument of very high quality.

That would be awesome.

I'm Oscar, Crazy Aces' bassist & the guy in the video above!
The Sidejack really does sound like a "normal" bass guitar. The tighter string spacing makes fingerstyle playing a challenge, but with a pick the instrument is very playable!
My website has a more comprehensive review of the instrument, along with pictures and more soundclips demonstrating the Sidejack's range. Studio quality audio clips and pickup comparison, etc:

Note the second clip, played fingerstyle in a walking bass context.

The amp in the video above is a Line6 LowSown 150. Solid state, 150watts into a single 12" speaker. I use it as a practice amp, but it records pretty good too! It was set to the "Marshall Major" model & pretty clean.
What you hear is actually being captured just through the webcam built-in mic!

Thanks for the demo. Great playing!
I can definitely see a use for this - would be cool to see someone double on bass and rhythm guitar simultaneously - but I'd prefer a baritone personally. Glad you got the cream one 'cuase I think the black one is kinda ugly, but I don't really dig gold hardware much.
Also, I know it's historically accurate for the Mosrites, but I wish they'd make the nut width wider on those, especially the bass w/ it's long scale. Just my 2 cents and I'm not in the market anyways, so who cares!

Thanks Oscar, this was very helpful.
Your demos are the standard that every gear demo should aspire to - articulate, clean, the music&playing is awesome. Really revealing.
And the rest of the website - wow, a lot of stuff to dig into!
Have you ever tried the Schecter Hellcat VI by any chance?

I have not, but I'm on the lookout for the Hellcat. Same ballpark price (I think the Schecter is a little more). The Eastwood's aesthetic is waaay cooler in my opinion, but it sure is neat to have options these days!
Thanks for the kind words, Dread!
El Sonido, the cream really is cool! It's a great bone/vintage cream color that's hard to capture in a photo. The Sidejack Bass VI really is different from a baritone. They're 2 different animals, really. Although, you can pull off baritone stuff on the Bass VI but you can't pull off awesome bass tones with a Bari'!
