I was approached late last year by FALKO, drummer for the German surf band, THE SPACE RANGERS, about assisting him set up some East Coast US dates
by the way, Falko is NOT coming over to the USA with the full band this time around; just one-half of it -- himself, and Daniel, on bass
joining them will be RATTLESNAKE RALPH, from the NYC area band, THE OCTOMEN
killer line-up, eh?
they are calling themselves WEST SAMOA SURFER LEAGUE
I immediately dropped them into my APRIL 7th "SURF-ROCK SHINDIG" at OTTO's SHRUNKEN HEAD in NYC. Here is the poster:
I then reached out to my buddy FRANK WOOD, NYC's premier alternative music concert promoter. FRANK has secured the day after my SHINDIG at his WIND-DOWN SUNDAYS series (that will be April 8th) @ Otto's also. He also books shows at HANK'S SALOON in Brooklyn. So Frank added Friday night April 6th for WEST SAMOA SURFER LEAGUE!
I also reached out to Deb Noble a/k/a "THE Blue StingRaye". She is working on other dates in New England, New Jersey, etc. She just advised me yesterday that she has WEST SAMOA SURFER LEAGUE booked for April 13th at THE RECORD COLLECTOR in Bordentown New Jersey!! She will be adding more dates soon!!
I will let Falko and Daniel and Rattlesnake Ralph take over this thread, as it is their tour. I hope to attend many of their shows that are booked, and report back with pictures and videos (of course!!)
SO GET READY FOR A KILLER TRIO OF SURF MUSICIANS, who are calling themselves, WEST SAMOA SURFER LEAGUE!!

Thank you Freddie, for the nice introduction.
We are very happy to come over again, as we all love being there.
I am thrilled to perform with RR and Falko, and I am fascinated by the concept. I will keep you updated on the news and whatnot.

I really enjoyed the shows we did with The Space Rangers last year, great bunch of guys! I look forward to jamming with Falko and Dan although Germany is a bit of a haul to be driving to band practice.....

nah... it's just, am I afraid of stingrays. what if a gang of 'rays show up at a gig and show me their stingers? ....that'll be awkward. and a mess to clean up later...

Dear enthusiasts on the Eastern Seaboard, or wherever ,
It is only a few days before the WEST SAMOA SURFER LEAGUE ( like us on facebook!) will be performing in and around NYC!
Once again thanks to all who worked so hard to get this thing going, and those who will work even harder once we have arrived!
We have been under some kind of pressure, since all of us have Day-time jobs to attend to, and two of us travel all the way from there to here ( btw, in 1908 it took a ship like the Mauretania 5 days to cross the Atlantic. Ah, the halcyon days…). Then we will have to find our way around NYC, and be at all the gigs on time… I’ll be riding them yellow cabs, fersure….
Whatever hardship this tour brings, it will be outshone (?) by the fun to be there for you, to see you all ( again) and to spend some quality time with you.
This whole “we’re goin to the states and we’ll play some gigs”-feeling is worth all the hassle, and to be there again makes us feel like more than simple tourists. Yes, you have given us some kind of a new home ( am I putting too much pathos on this?), one we will be coming back to whenever possible.
I will now leave you to browse through this here thread, find out all the gigs and choose one that suits you best. If you can’t decide, attend all of them!
I gotta get packing and not forgetting crucial items, such as underwear, bass strings and my favourite stuffed animal. The rest I leave to my credit card.
