I know it was mentioned a little in the Johnny Marr thread but I'm hoping anyone who owns one can give a little more info. I was looking at one for my Strat. I'd get one for my Xaviere offset but don't know if the arm and collet are the same specs as a Fender.

Not sure it would work for me as I leave my whammy bar ' a - swingin'"

I ordered one of these for my Jazzmaster on Thursday, I'll let you all know how it works out.

I'd be interested in knowing how it works on a Jazzer.

I installed a Staytrem on my AVRI Jazzmaster about a month ago
and am very pleased. Arm swinging issues are over.
Highly recommended.

I've got these installed on my 3 Jags, and also just recently got one for my mustang. John the Staytrem guy is great to work with, and the product works as advertised. Well worth the $60 or so it comes out to shipped from the UK.

Awesome, glad to hear.
After dropping the arm a couple times each at our last few shows, ordering this was a no brainer.
I really can't wait to get it installed.

I wrapped a little silicone tape around the arm in my Xaviere offset and it stays where I want it. I'm still tempted to get this for my Strat though

I put a spring in the hole that the trem arm screws into and have no trouble with it moving. I think I paid around $5 for 6 springs. On the Xaviere (JT-100) I removed the trem plate and squeezed the collet that holds the trem arm and have no more problems with it.

Got mine in the mail yesterday and just finished installing it a little while ago.
I've gotta say, I'm not really satisfied with it, I'm about to take off the tremolo plate for the third time to tighten the nylon sleeve.
I've done this twice already and the arm definitely does NOT stay, I'm going to keep working with it, but if I have to take it off one more time after this I'll probably be putting the old collet back on.
Any suggestions from you satisfied guys?

I used a simple fix for my AVRI JM, recommended by the fine folks here:
Bend the arm piece that goes into the collet (non threaded!) just a tiny little bit, so it has a very slight curve, that presses into the innards of the collet keeping it tight.
Works perfectly, for over a year so far. Arm stays in place, but free enough to move smoothly. No mess, simple, super elegant and I expect it to last forever.

Did the same with my MIJ Jag almost 4 years ago. So far, so good.

So another update, I finally got it torqued down enough to wear the arm would stay where I put it while still remaining moveable.
But after using it at a gig yesterday, I've decided it's not for me.
Having had my Jazzmaster for 3 years, gigging for all those years, I've never had tuning issues or ever broken a string to many people's surprise.
That is until I put the stay trem on my JM.
I was constantly having to check my tuning, which both my band members and my girlfriend both mentioned after our set.
Not to mention the fact that I popped the high e during our first song with only moderate tremolo use, because I knew it was throwing that string out of tune whenever I used it.
Now I'm not bashing the Staytrem folks at all, they're making a great product, it just didn't happen to work for me.
I would definitely still recommend the product, I would just suggest you be aware of these two issues that I came across, that might not be issues for anyone else.

I'm assuming that all these JM's use a screw in trem arm? The Stay Trem site only shows a screw in piece for Strats. I've got an All Parts JM trem in which the arm snaps into a collect. Kinda afraid to "pinch" the collect, 'cause I break things.....

Nope, it only replaces the collet, which screws onto the tremolo plate.
I would assume most, if not all, JM/Jag tremolos use this same design, which means it'll work for AVRI, MIM and MIJ guitars.

Like David mentioned, the Staytrem comes with a part that replaces the existing collet. When ordering, you do have to specify U.S. or Japanese size depending on your type of tremolo. (You would have to determine what size your aftermarket trem is compatible with.)
The other part of the system is the trem bar. The Staytrem was built to use the special trem bar that comes with it. Other bars won't fit. The bar does snap into place. It's not threaded.
As far as I know, they are still only available on the Staytrem eBay store:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Tremolo-upgrade-for-Fender-Jaguar-Jazzmaster-Eliminates-sloppy-tremolo-arm-/180842838672?pt=UK_Guitar_Accessories&var=&hash=item2a1b12ba90
I just noticed that he is now advertising it as an "updated design".

Great , thanks for the description, it makes more sense to me now. I'm experimenting with strings this week on my JM, good time to inspect the back side of the trem and sort this out.
Thanks again
