I'll be curious to see what these are like. Nice to see some lower end options in Surf Green and Sonic Blue

Probably $350 retail... that surf green one looks pretty sweet!

Maybe even less than $350. The Classic Vibe Squier Strats list for $549 and retail for $350. This one lists for $50 less.

Found a couple demos. First one is clean, second is dirty.

You're not drunk if you can put your socks on while standing.

Would love one with a maple fretboard.

I've heard these will be $299 street price. Looks cool. I think its the same factory that builds the Vintage Modifies Jazzmaster and Jaguar. Both of those are far nicer than they should be for that kind of money.

I can't quite figure out what lipstick pickups have to do with surf?

Dig these!

These have a basswood body, so that probably explains part of the lower price

If you get one of these you can probably count on replacing the cheap bridge/trem, at least if you want to use it. The one on my Vintage Modified Start was unusable, floppy with lots of play and a tiny block that sounds anemic. I had to fill the holes and re-drill for a Wilkinson tremolo but it made a huge improvement in tone and sustain. I got rid of mine because I didn't care for the flatter, chunky neck with medium jumbo frets.

Why would a "surf" model have anything but regular Stratocaster pickups?

I do think it's cool that they're doing that.

So, has anyone played one yet? Though I gave up on Lipsticks for my personal use a few years ago, I still love the sound.

You may want to have a look at the other thread -- more info there.

Old punks never die... They just become surf rockers.

The brand new Guitar Player mag gives it a very favorable review.

Well I play with them everytime I stop into GC. I'll pick one up and give it a few bars of Pipeline.
As with most of the modern Squiers it feels and plays very well IMO as good or better than any of the MIM Fenders I have played.

As for the tone of the pickups they sound good for what they are but they don't have that single coil surf sound thats for sure.

I would buy one but I already have 2 Squier Strats that I should replace the pickups in.
