I did a search here before posting and it did not return any matches. According to the interweb these were made by Teisco for Sears. Are they a viable find if in good shape? I have a friend who has one for sale and I'd like to snag it if it is worth having...
Thanks!

I bet it it's great! If nothing else, it'll be unique.

I love old Silvertones and cheap-o stuff like that, so I bet it couldn't be that bad. I never played the 1445 but the pickups look just like my '66 Hagstrom III, and those were alright. Not strong, not weak, just alright.

Here's a link!

I've used those Teiscos before; they have those great classic-sounding (but microphonic) Teisco pickups, and comfortable necks. The only major drawback is the vibrato, which won't keep the strings in tune whether you use it or not! I once played some James Brown-style grooves on my Teisco, and by the time the song was over, but the low E and A strings were flat by over six steps! I've heard tell you can get better springs for those boogers nowadays, to maybe there's hope yet.
One other thing to know: All Teiscos have a tone knob that's wired backwards. You think you've got it turned all the way up, but instead you'll have it turned all the way down! I actually skipped buying a few really nice guitars, not knowing this important detail ("Sure it looks cool--but it's so muddy! Nothing at all like your Teisco, Bob....").

Thanks for the link - looks just like that one...
Going to pick it up Friday - let ya'll know how it plays...
It has a new Trem arm and spring, I'm wondering what pu's might go well - I dig the Kent Armstrong lipsticks, but dont know how they'd fit in the pickguard...
link to the actual guitar on CL

That's a good price for one of them, too.
