Finally another show!
August 26, 2011
The Melody Inn
3826 N. Illinois St., Indianapolis, IN
317-923-4707
With: The Troubadours • Destination: Earth!
(the Troubadours are on first, Destination: Earth! second, and the Madeira last. This is a change from what we first announced when we thought D:E! had to go on first.)
We're very happy to be able to play this show with our brothers-in-arms D:E! and the Troubadours!
Also, this will be our first show post-3rd-album-recording, so expect to hear a bunch of new stuff!
Can't wait! Hope to see some of you there.

Excellent! Been wanting to see a surf show for a while now. I'm glad The Troubadours will be there too. Great stuff!

Thanks, Dr. Morbius! It'll be a great show!
Alas, the Champaign show has been canceled - the owner claims to have double-booked it and bumped us. But at least there's still the Indy show to look forward to! We're also working on some other shows in the late summer and the fall, including a batlle of the surf bands in Miami, Ohio on September 15th! Stay tuned for more details.

No doubt. We think it's BS, anyway - he probably just got a better offer. Real nice. Oh well, that's the nature of the beast....

Recording next weekend. After that it's in God's hands (that being our engineer who has to mix the album - and he seems to operate on God's time scale. ) But hopefully by early December at the latest.

You're gonna record an full album during just one weekend? That's kinda unusual these days, but I guess it's a combo of lack of money/ well rehearsed band
Double Crown is releasing as usual?

Sure. What's the big deal? We record live, we have 13 songs to record and 3 days to record them in - that's 4 songs per day for two days, and 5 songs one day. And it's not like these are Stairway-to-Heaven-style epics! They're fairly short songs - it's basically 15 minutes of recorded material per a 10-hour work day.
This is exactly what we've done with both other albums (in fact, we recorded all of Sandstorm and Ruins - 18 songs - in one weekend, starting even later on the Friday!) The overdubs usually end up taking some extra time, and we usually need to do several takes of each song, and then you have listen to each one, etc., but it's all definitely doable. And it's nice to focus on it really intensely for a short period of time, and then be done with it. (I should mention that the mixing will be done separately, that seems to take much longer.)
That`s kinda unusual these days,
Is it?
but I guess it`s a combo of lack og money/ well rehearsed band
Definitely yes on the latter (we've been working hard to be ready), and somewhat on the former - we could afford more, but why waste money - and time - if we don't have to?
Double Crown is releasing as usual?
Yes, sir!
I hope to take photos and even videos during the process, and will post it all here once we're done.

Stoked x10 for a new Madeira CD, an "extra features" post, and an East Coast tour.
(Okay, he never mentioned that last one, but a fanboy can hope, right?)

Unusual or not, its a lot faster than what I m am used to, but I see your point of not wasting more time and money than necessary.
Anyway, I guess its not just me who s looking forward to it
