Thanks you guys for still talking about us every now and then. Just finished our new record with Rick Miller from S.C.O.T.S. Best thing we've done. "Treasures" will be out in April, and we'll be playing Crispys' Instro Summit @ the Cave April 30th. See you then......Jimmy

Thanks for the reminder about this new record! So how was working with Rick Miller in the studio? Track list? Album art?

Reverb, It's A Way Of Life!

Congratz, Jimmy! Looking forward to hearing the record.

Rick ended up doing a really phenomenal job! We got to play an extensive amount of his vintage gear and he really knew how to get the best sounds from them. I think this album will be our best yet. All of our CD's are available on itunes or through cdbaby. If anyone wants one straight from the source let me know!

An older thread that needs to be revived. For some reason this band doesn't get talked about nearly enough considering the level of talent they have. I know Ivan has recently sung their praises once he got to share a bill with them and hang out a bit. I hope I'm lucky enough to do that some day.

Their album Treasures is exactly that - a treasure. Every song on there is a winner. I think most surf fans will find something to love. Their approach is the perfect mix of excellent trad and modern surf sounds with inventive and interesting melodies with thoughtful arrangements throughout. The album was recorded and mixed by Southern Culture On The Skids' Rick Miller, and his (and the band's) use of vintage equipment is all over this great sounding record.

Those of you who bought Brave New Surf should know their killer song Washout, I promise you that the rest of this album is true to that level of quality. I suggest you go to CD Baby and buy their CD or download off Itunes, and if you're on facebook be sure to 'like' them.

get all 4 of their cds,
all must have in my opinion.

I've been replaying Treasures since I bought it at the Summit. I'm excited by how well it holds up played back-to-back with Tribal Fires. Honestly, jumbling up the two records and mixing up the tunes in a playlist does not prove jarring. Nothing is interchangeable and nothing copies the other (obviously) but it's nearly startling to hear and I'm lovin' how well the two records play together.

Very well done. Excellent record.

This is Noel. Reverb's at maximum an' I'm givin' 'er all she's got.

Have to +1 this. It really is fantastic. I also picked up "Surf Surf Surf" at Jeremy's suggestion, though I have not had a chance to listen to it (and plan to eventually get all their cd's, like Jeff said). Also, as I believe was mentioned by more than on person in the Summit thread, one of the best live acts.

I've just been listening to Surf! Surf! Surf!, Revenge and Treasures right through and enjoying the hell out of it. Is Snake Eyes from the Aqualads or the Eliminators or someone else? I don't have the CDs at work to check the credits, just the iTunes files.

I got my copy today and I have listened to it non-stop. What everyone says is true. It is amazing how this release seemed to slip under the radar. This is a FANTASTIC album, full of rich and creative songwriting, excellent musicianship, and every carefully crafted song has a distinct vibe and feel. Amazing! Great job guys! I am really, really impressed! Thumbs Up

Wow thanks so much for this album! My current favorite track is The Whirling Dervish, but I am sure that will change almost hourly as I discover more.

BUY THIS NOW. Treasures, indeed.

I've been meaning to buy this one, and the previous album ( I have the first two), and finally pulled the trigger. Thanks for the reminder/revival of this thread. Very much looking forward to hearing it, and hopefully seeing the band (as rumoured) at SG101 in August 2013 (???).

Me too! Thanks SG101, especially Ivan and Danny. I am a new fan! Great mix of stuff. The slower stuff is super along with great intense ones like Whirling Dervish. A must have, for sure.

Thanks everyone! The compliments are quite humbling coming from such a talented group of people!

Tuck - we do all originals now on our albums! I did write that song Snake Eyes, but the weird thing is I don't REMEMBER writing that song. It was like one day it was just there and we were playing it. That's why they call us the Alco-lads!

Thanks again though, you guys are all awesome!

Jeremy

Just want to bump this thread for those that missed this or weren't around when this came out. This is truly a fantastic record, one of the greatest releases of the surf revival era.
