Favorite first wave surf LP?

There may well be individual bands and songs I like better, but for overall complete albums these are just out of the ball park. Top

Posted on Nov 02 2010 01:16 PM Does it have to be a Real LP, or does a "best of" count? or what about say. the Eddie and the Showmen, Crossfires, Original Surfaris, or the Nocturnes cds, none of those actually came out as LPs in the 60s. they are either a collection of singles, and unreleased songs, or, in the Noctunres case, just never released. as it was after the British Invasion, and Paul Johnson couldn't find a lable that wanted to release his recordings of the Noctunres. So it sat unreleased until the mid 90s. when AVI released it, and then later Gee Dee from Germany later re-issuing it. Anyways, I would have to say the 60's stuff on cd I listen to most is either compilations. as there is a large amount of R&B filler on old surf LPs. or a Best of, such as "Movin" the Best of the Astronauts (instros only) Japanese release cd. — Jeff(bigtikidude) Top

Both are really top class, but to me the GNP-Crescendo one (The Good Guys´ LP) is also one-of-a-kind amazing work of instrumental perfectionism, thanks to the guitar finesse of Paul Johnson and Art Fisher (oh boy! what a guitar tandem!). Of course, the K39 album is a masterpiece too. Top

I think I read this LP used a shot of a female surfer airbrushed to appear as a male silhouette. A pic also used on some other surf band LP. Top
