I'm curious to see what everyone would choose as their favorite all time surf track. Vocal, instrumental, fuzzy, clean, live version, studio version, cover...I'm sure all of us have that ONE track that we will blast till the grave.
I think its only fair that in extreme cases you may list two songs as a tie.
I'll go with Haulin' Hearse - The Ghastly Ones

The Victor by Dick Dale & the Del-Tones
Mar Gaya by Fender IV
Always together and played on this order.
I've played this songs together for some years now, at my mp3 player and sometimes djing. Just recently I was reading Phil Dirt's review of Mar Gaya single at reverbcentral.com website, and apparently, Randy Holden inspired himself on the Victor to write Mar Gaya.

The problem is there are so many good songs to choose from. I would have to agree with Mom_Surfing on Pipeline, it makes me feel like my favorite place to be, surfing.

I'm going to think about this one a little more, but off the top of my head I'm going to go with Pipeline, too.

My all-time favorite surf track is Red Sunrise by the Space Cossacks. Strangely enough, but not for any music fan, that might not even be my favorite Space Cossacks song.

For modern surf I'd say Slacktone's "Coffin Closer", my current favorite 1st wave song is "Haulin' Honda" by the Hondells - some amazing guitar by Richie Podolor on that one.

I was listening to "Red Sunrise" on the way into work this morning. It's on my CD of "essential" Surf tunes. I'm putting together a Surf set for an upcoming Rickenbacker Mini-Conference in Orange County, and you can bet "Red Sunrise" will be on the list.

Well, we just tackled this very question recently http://surfguitar101.com/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=11092, and my answer hasn't changed. If I must limit myself to just one: Jack the Ripper. So simple, yet so evocative and atmospheric; a masterfully elegant bit of writing.

There's 2 for me:
Walk Don't Run, Ventures version. Because it was the first one I heard.
Depth Charge, Jon and the Nightriders. Because it was the first one I heard from the newer stuff.
There may be songs I listen to more often, but these I have a special fondness for.

I really dig "Wayward Nile" by the Chantays... it's so difficult for me to pick just a single track though...I love so many tracks...

Still love Heartbeat by Avengers VI. It is such a simple yet weird tune. Maybe I am a sucker for a vamp.

Either Mar Gaya by The Fender IV or The Cossack by Jim Messina and his Jesters.
