Speedball Jr.

greenbirdbath - 01 Nov 2004 19:05:10

Anyone familiar with these guys? There are a couple of videos of them
from a TV show in Belgium.

Yup, I've seen them a couple of times. They're great musicians with a
strong sound.
Their rather forced showy stage act doesn't do much for me, i found
it annoying.
the go-go dancer is a substantive part of the band, and gives new
meaning to the 'go' of gogodancer. to say she didn't do it for me
would be the understatement of the year.
anway, a great band to go to, bring shades though.
my 2 cents, hope i didn't offend anyone (stage acts, gogodancers and
female beauty are a matter of personal taste, i guess)

Speedball Jr. is a great band, and cool people!
Slacktone played with them in Belgium in 2001/02, we
all dug it very much. Check out the site {cool}
www.speedballjr.com . The guitar player, Frey, is a
way intense player who told me his goals of life were
to meet Johnny Cash, and Dick Dale.

I wonder if he met those goals.
In those videos he looks like he plants his pinky on the pickguard
while he is speed picking, is this the way he does it? I find it very
difficult to pick fast that way.

He probably has, since they're in th band.
don't know about th pinky, but I remember fom last seein'them that
he's a great speed picker. fast, spot-on timing, and very aggresive
attack.

Yes,
I've seen them a few times and he does that all the time, the whole set
through.
Seems a sure way to develop RSI .
IMHO
